Over The Weekend #57

This week for one reason or another felt very long so when Friday came around I was looking forward to joining Lauren and The Books in her #cosyreadingnight
I curled up on the sofa with new pj's, a blanket, candles, a glass of fizz and read a few chapters of Drums of Autumn. Hubby even joined in and read The Lost World, later we watched Me Before You

On Saturday it was Paul's jobs 10th Anniversary so Paul brought Oisìn off for a fun day out
They went swimming, played games, ate yummy food and Oisìn got his face painted!
Later Paul and Oisìn went to Paul's parents to spend the afternoon with them and have a catch up as Paul's Dad Eddie had just come home from his European part of his tour.
While the boys where having fun I deep cleaned the house and took the chance to declutter the house and get rid of things before Christmas.
I got one bin bag of rubbish and two for the charity shop!!

It took us a long time to settle Oisìn Saturday at bedtime, he seems to be going through a phase of wanting a night light on at bedtime. After an hour or so of him getting out of bed he seemed to need reassurance that we where still near him, and the light was going to be kept on, he finally fell asleep!
We watched Batman Returns with a white wine spritzer for me!

Sunday we all had a bit of a lie in Oisìn didn't wake up till 9am
while having our breakfast we watched Home Alone 2 and Oisìn loved it!
Later we went and done some Christmas shopping, we went for coffee which was lovely.
I took this picture and it made me realise how grown up my baby boy has got, no longer a baby now a little boy! How alike Daddy and son are even down to the walk!

When we got home Paul finished making the Sunday and Oisìn wrote his very first letter to Santa
the past couple of years he has been to young to do it, this year he couldn't wait to do it
Of course Mammy and Daddy had to help but he really enjoyed it
We had a sweet and family filled weekend

Over The Weekend 50&51

I have been MIA from this blog the past few weeks
I had alot on with my Mam's Birthday and then my brother's 10th Anniversary
While I am still in a bit of a change of seasons slump
While I back to reading and watching my favourite TV shows I still seem to be feeling
a bit meh in myself.
Hubby and I are having a bit of a treat the end of this week
Oisìn is having a sleep over in his Grandparents and we are going for a meal and to see a show
I am really looking forward to some quality time with the hubby

Anyway two weekends ago it was my Mam's birthday
I brought her out for a meal and it was a bit of a ladies night!
It was lovely to spend time together just the two of us
That Saturday was the All Ireland GAA Football final rematch with Dublin and Mayo
It was a tight match but Dublin won and it reminded me of this picture of my brother
He loved Dublin and went to alot of the matches but he died before Dublin started there winning streak. So he never got to see the team he loves so much raise the Sam, but I know he was smiling down on Croke Park

I always wear Patrick's Dublin jersey when Dublin are in the final.
Oisìn asked to wear this time so I let him and he was so pleased
but it did look like an over sized nightie on him!

That Sunday it was ten years since this funny face left us
It did hit me a little hard that morning I had some time out listening to his favourite songs.
I really missed him it's funny how even after ten years it can feel like yesterday
He was a beautiful gentle soul and the world is a little bit darker and harsh without him

We had a family dinner at ours that Sunday it was a day to spend with family
We raised a glass of Patrick and spoke about the good times with him
When my parents had gone home Paul and I watched our Sunday night favourites
Poldark and Victoria

After a illness filled week this was very much needed Friday night
Oisìn & I have been filled with cold and hubby had a chest and sinus infection
So it was nice to chill out with a glass of vino and watch Gogglebox

On Saturday I got some of the Halloween bits down
Oisìn was slightly scared but came around and now loves talking to the pumpkin!

Speaking of Oisìn he seems to be going through a funny stage
He has been lashing out in creche and at home
He has regressed in potty training and it feels like we are starting again with toilet training
I think moving into the older room in creche has set him back a bit
This Mammy needed alot of patience this weekend with tantrums and wetting accidents!

A last minute family Sunday roast happened which was really nice
I love having my parents for dinner and Sunday really is our family day
Bubbles, candles and Poldark finished off our weekend!

Over The Weekend #39

This weekend was a chilled out relaxing one!
Paul was in work for the whole weekend, my parents went away for it
So it was just Oisìn and I!
Friday night we opened a bottle of prosecco and watched a movie!
Saturday morning Oisìn and I enjoyed scones and tea
These ones where from M&S and they where yummy!
Saturday we didn't do much I had to do a food shop
so Oisìn came with me while I done that
Then we spent most of the day in the back garden
After I cleaned up after dinner Saturday I looked out at this little dude playing on his own
It's times like this that my heart goes out to him and I wish for a sibling for him
I have come to terms that it might never happen but there will always be times
when I will wish and pray that it will and this was definitely one of those times
Today Oisìn was up bright and early 6am!
Again we didn't do much I done housework while Oisìn played in the garden
We went for to our local park for a little while
Oisìn took an almost three hour nap think the heat has him tired out!
I have really been enjoying this book this weekend
I am half way through it and it's one of my monthly favourites

Weekly Favourites

I have been love everything and anything Outlander related this week
after that amazing season two finale!

Book
Outlander Colouring Book
I have been loving all things Outlander-ish this week!
I think I am trying to fill the sad void that the show has left!
I finished the third book in the series last week and now the TV show has finished it's second season
I dug out my Outlander colouring book that hubby got me for Christmas and have enjoyed
a few relaxing moments with this book

TV Show
Outlander
Of course it's Outlander what an amazing ending to season two
I loved it!
I am not sure why but this show and the book series just strikes something in me
and I feel like it's just "my show"
I will go into more details in my On The Box TV review on Wednesday
But wow this didn't disappoint the feels and tears had me heartbroken
It's going to be a long Droughtlander for me!

Blog
I have been following this blog for a long time and can really relate
to Victoria's battle with chronic fatigue and pain.
I love her life updates and watch her two pugs who are now old ladies!

Movie
Angry Birds
We brought Oisìn to see this last week I didn't expect much
but this was really funny! Oisìn really enjoyed it and it kept his attention for the
whole time!

Instagram
This is a beautiful account with beautiful well shot pictures
of home, holidays, family and life

Album
Bella Donna~Stevie Nicks
I am still loving re-discovering the solo albums of Stevie Nicks
Being honest I don't think I have listened to Stevie's albums since I was pregnant
which was three years ago! I am currently loving listening to all the beautiful songs
which mean so much to me
This week I am really loving Stevie's first solo album called Bella Donna
In a break between albums with Fleetwood Mac Stevie called in lots of friends to quickly recorded this album. Songs from this album have gone on to become classics, Stop Dragging My Heart Around (with Tom Petty) Edge of Seventeen (which was later sampled by Density's Child) and Leather & Lace (with Don Henley) are all well known and of course I love them
But my favourites are Kind of Woman a song she wrote about Lindsey Buckingham in which she let herself worry about him on the road and the temptations that fall in his path.
The Highway Man is another favourite of mine from this album. I think Stevie said this was about the great rock singers and guitarists that she has worked with. I also think its about Lindsey Buckingham who she saw as an amazing musician but also someone she couldn't keep up with.
The lyrics, the music and the harmonies between Stevie and Don Henley all make this song so beautiful.

Drink
Belletti Prosecco~Aldi 8.99
There are a few things that I can be a bit of a snob about
Wine, Chocolate, Coffee and Prosecco I like good quality with these!
When I saw these prosecco in Aldi for the price of 8.99 I went back and forth for a couple weeks before I bought it. Wow I was surprised it is once of the nicest prosecco I have drunk!
It's how I like my prosecco dry with hints of apple and pear..... Delicious

Vlogger
Bits & Clips
I love Marie Bits & Clips and she is my go to when I want to smile
She doesn't have a set upload so when I see she has put up a new video
I immediately watch it! She has been flogging her way through Vid Con lately
and it has been totally refreshing to see it through the eyes of a down to earth person

Store
Penneys/Primark
For some reason Primark is called Penneys here in Ireland
Being honest I haven't been in this store in a long while
but we need to pick up bits and bobs for a family wedding we are going
to later in the month and I forgot how good value for money this store is!!
They also have some beautiful home ware items too, with our bedroom getting
a revamp soon I will be picking up things from here soon!

So that's my favourites for this week
Now someone pass the prosecco it's finally THE WEEKEND!

Over The Weekend #38

This weekend turned out to be a busy one!
Friday Oisìn and I pottered around the house doing housework!
Saturday morning Paul and Oisìn went swimming early and then
we made our way into Dublin city centre to get three outfits for
my sister in law's wedding at the end of the month.
In actually fact we found both Paul and Oisìn beautiful suits in the same shop
that wasn't the problem. At this stage it was nap time for Oisìn and he didn't want to
get out of his pram to try anything on! He spent 15 minutes shouting "I DON'T LIKE IT"
at the top of his voice all over the store, while getting annoyed and strange looks from other
customers!! He then barged into the dressing room Paul was getting changed in, thankfully the sales assistant was a nice bloke and took it all very well. Soon bribery was used in the form of Peppa Pig books and chocolate lollipops!
We then had to find accessories for me! Luckily I already had my dress, but I needed, shoes, bag, jewellery, and a hat to match!! Clothes shopping, with a tired and cranky toddler is like shopping with the spawn of Satan! Oisìn becomes a totally different child when he is tired, and he is not a child to sleep in his pram, like me he is too nosy and wants to see what's going on! We had to do naughty step in the middle of Primark/Penneys que tears, snot and other parents looking at us like we where the most awful parents on the planet! After another hour we where almost finished and more bribery was pulled out in the form of promised Burger King!
Everything was forgiven and forgotten once he got a Burger King hat!
He is such a funny little thing!
Once Oisìn was bathed and put to bed, candles where lit and prosecco poured!
I continued my love of rediscovering Stevie Nicks and listen to another favourite
In Your Dreams
We then watched Spectre not one of my favourite James Bond movies
but I love the title song!
So this morning Oisìn and I where up bright and early 6am!
After a big fry up we went to the Kids Club at our local cinema
It's quite cheap so we thought we would give it ago and see how Oisìn got on!
He loved it! From the popcorn, jellies, and big telly as he called it, he loved every minute
The great thing about kids club is it's chaos lots of little humans, talking, singing and cheering along!
There is no pressure if you kid is laughing or crying all the parents are in the same boat!
We will definitely be bringing Oisìn again he is already asking about Finding Dory
It's hard to believe sometimes he is still only two and half!
The rest of our day was simple, park, dinner and now I'm having a cuppa with a book in bed!
