Over The Weekend 50&51

I have been MIA from this blog the past few weeks
I had alot on with my Mam's Birthday and then my brother's 10th Anniversary
While I am still in a bit of a change of seasons slump
While I back to reading and watching my favourite TV shows I still seem to be feeling
a bit meh in myself.
Hubby and I are having a bit of a treat the end of this week
Oisìn is having a sleep over in his Grandparents and we are going for a meal and to see a show
I am really looking forward to some quality time with the hubby

Anyway two weekends ago it was my Mam's birthday
I brought her out for a meal and it was a bit of a ladies night!
It was lovely to spend time together just the two of us
That Saturday was the All Ireland GAA Football final rematch with Dublin and Mayo
It was a tight match but Dublin won and it reminded me of this picture of my brother
He loved Dublin and went to alot of the matches but he died before Dublin started there winning streak. So he never got to see the team he loves so much raise the Sam, but I know he was smiling down on Croke Park

I always wear Patrick's Dublin jersey when Dublin are in the final.
Oisìn asked to wear this time so I let him and he was so pleased
but it did look like an over sized nightie on him!

That Sunday it was ten years since this funny face left us
It did hit me a little hard that morning I had some time out listening to his favourite songs.
I really missed him it's funny how even after ten years it can feel like yesterday
He was a beautiful gentle soul and the world is a little bit darker and harsh without him

We had a family dinner at ours that Sunday it was a day to spend with family
We raised a glass of Patrick and spoke about the good times with him
When my parents had gone home Paul and I watched our Sunday night favourites
Poldark and Victoria

After a illness filled week this was very much needed Friday night
Oisìn & I have been filled with cold and hubby had a chest and sinus infection
So it was nice to chill out with a glass of vino and watch Gogglebox

On Saturday I got some of the Halloween bits down
Oisìn was slightly scared but came around and now loves talking to the pumpkin!

Speaking of Oisìn he seems to be going through a funny stage
He has been lashing out in creche and at home
He has regressed in potty training and it feels like we are starting again with toilet training
I think moving into the older room in creche has set him back a bit
This Mammy needed alot of patience this weekend with tantrums and wetting accidents!

A last minute family Sunday roast happened which was really nice
I love having my parents for dinner and Sunday really is our family day
Bubbles, candles and Poldark finished off our weekend!

The Mummy Tag!

1. Are you a working Mum or a stay at home Mum?
I hate this question every Mother is working whether they go out to work or not!
Being a Mum is a full time job in itself! Up till recently I was working part time but due
to illness I have had to stop working till I get this chronic illness under control.

2. Would you have it an other way?
I would like to have a part time job in the future but at the moment I am happy
being at home with my little boy.

3. Do you co-sleep?
No and we never have, this was something my husband felt strongly about
He is normally very happy to go along with what I want but Oisìn is his child too
So we never done co-sleeping the odd falling back asleep after feeding or cuddles while sick
is as close as we got.

4. What is your must have item for your baby?
We had two items first was a growbag which Oisìn had different versions and sizes up until recently when he switched to a toddler bed and a duvet
The other was brilliantly for weaning it was called a CleverMama Cleafeed, it is quite like a soother but you put bits of cut up food into it. It was great for weaning with Oisìn we used baby-led weaning and this was a great help.

5. How many kids do you plan on having?
I would love to have three that was my ideal number when thinking of starting a family
but with all the fertility issues I have it looks like one might be our lot!

6. Your child's favourite TV show?
Peppa (bloody) Pig!!
Oisìn likes a number of TV shows, Mr Tumble, Twirly Woos and Barney
but Peppa Pig is the go to show for him and any chance he gets he will want
to watch it! Sometimes Mammy just has to compromise and watched the less annoying
like Mister Maker instead!

7. Date night do you have them?
Not as much as we would like, we do have two wonderful sets of parents
who volunteer to babysit but they have there own lives too
So if we can't get out for a date night we try do a date day instead
Lunch or Dinner and Cinema is normally what happens on a date day!

8. Name one thing you bought before having baby that you never used?
Swaddles Blankets we bought lots of them some really expensive ones
and Oisìn HATED being swaddled! So growbags where used instead!

9. Your child's favourite food?
Naughty food his favourite is ice cream!! What child doesn't love ice cream!
Good food his favourite is broccoli he actually loves his greens, anything green on his plate he eats first and sometimes asks for more!

10. How many cars does your family own?
One!

11. Weight gain before, during, after pregnancy and now?
Before pregnancy I had gained due to my PCOS meds
During I gained over a stone, after another half a stone
I joined Slimming World and was doing so well trying to get my mindset back into that
but have lost most of my pregnancy weight. Would love to lose another half stone and I'd be really happy!

12. Dream holiday with your kids?
Disney World Floria we are hoping to do this in the next few years with Oisìn

13. Dream holiday without your kids?
A city break maybe Vienna!

14. How has your life changed since having kids?
Everything in my life has changed, my life has a meaning now.
I get up and most days the first face I see is my son's he is so happy in the mornings
which makes me try be a better morning person!
Everything in my life has changed for the better

15. Finish the sentence "it melts my heart when..."
I see the bond my husband and son have, they are so cute Oisìn is
a mini me of Paul. I love how they love being in each others company
how Oisìn will till his Dad all about his day when he gets home from work.

16. Where do you shop for your kids?
For toys it's mostly Smyths toy store or Argos
For clothes I like Primark/Penneys, Sports Direct, Next, Mothercare and Dunnes Stores

17. Favourite make up and skin products?
My favourite makeup is definitely Estee Lauder Double Wear
I also love Estee Lauder skincare range

18. Huggies or Pampers?
Neither! I only used Pampers on Oisìn when he was a newborn
when he was around five months old we switched to Dunnes Stores own brand
and have been using them ever since

19. Have you always wanted to be a Mum?
Yes as soon as I met Paul at 19 I knew he was the one
and I knew I wanted to have a family with him.
I has been a long journey but we got there!

20. Best part of being a Mum?
The feeling of unconditional love...looking at this tiny human
that you have created and knowing you would die before letting anything happen to them
The kisses, cuddles and hugs are also great!!

Over The Weekend #20

Paul was working this weekend so I wasn't expecting
this weekend to be very fun
but I was wrong it was so much fun and I really enjoyed it
Saturday morning I had a bit of a fuzzy head after a little to much wine Friday night!

Saturday we went to the park it was really cold
so we wrapped up and brought a football
Oisìn had so much fun I forgot my phone so no photos blame the wineflu!
Later we went to the chippy and had a yummy tea of chip sandwiches!!
Slimming World went out the window this weekend!

The little guy wanted to take selfies Sunday morning!!
Paul was in work early so I was woken at 7am for flowers and cards
At lunch time Oisìn and I went down to my parents for some
Mother's day cake
As you can see one had already fell into Oisìn's mouth!
Look at those eyes my blue eyed boy!
After cake Oisìn decided it was time to dance so him and Grandad had a little bop!

Then we went down to my Mammy In Law to wish her
Happy Mother's Day
She kindly decided to take Oisìn for the evening
so that I could have dinner and a drink with my Mam
We had a lovely day and evening and my favourite gift
was this lovely card from Oisìn which in made in daycare

Hope you all had a lovely Mother's Day and weekend

Console Celebration of Light

On Sunday evening I was once again invited to Console's annual concert
for family and friends who have lost loved ones through suicide
Last year my Mam came with me this year I managed to get three tickets and
my Father could also attend with us
It was my third year to attend and it means so much to me
giving us one evening over the festive time to just remember and celebrate
my brother who we lost in 2006
Although we miss him every day and think of him all the time
This is a beautiful two and half hours once a year to just remember, cry, think and celebrate his life

My Dad like my Mam last year was unsure
what to expect, he is not very religious and was hoping it wasn't praying for two hours!
When the he realised it was an evening of celebration, songs and poems
he really relaxed and really enjoyed his time there

This year's theme was Hope and yes there is still Hope and Light
After you go through something like this everything seems dark
There doesn't seem to be any light around but believe me there is
always a little light in the dark
It might be small but it's there growing
On the evening one candle is lit then we are all given candles
and we light them together to represent this

This year's beautiful singers included
Paul Hennessy who sang You Raise Me Up,
Liam Lawton who sang Bring Him Home,
Rebecca Storm sang You'll Never Walk Along
and Jack L sang Ole Man River
Christy Keneally who narrated the evening has such a beautiful way with words

Again I watched my parents leave a little lighter then they entered
My Dad didn't stop talking about it all the way home!
The thing that I love about this evening is that
We can grieve and let our feelings out knowing
everyone there is feeling the same way
It's nine years since our brother left this world
the pain will always be there
Knowing we have an evening like this every year
makes the pain a little more bearable
Thank you to everyone at Console for this amazing evening
Remember Suicide it not
the answer there is always
light at the end of the tunnel
please talk
