Over The Weekend 50&51

I have been MIA from this blog the past few weeks
I had alot on with my Mam's Birthday and then my brother's 10th Anniversary
While I am still in a bit of a change of seasons slump
While I back to reading and watching my favourite TV shows I still seem to be feeling
a bit meh in myself.
Hubby and I are having a bit of a treat the end of this week
Oisìn is having a sleep over in his Grandparents and we are going for a meal and to see a show
I am really looking forward to some quality time with the hubby

Anyway two weekends ago it was my Mam's birthday
I brought her out for a meal and it was a bit of a ladies night!
It was lovely to spend time together just the two of us
That Saturday was the All Ireland GAA Football final rematch with Dublin and Mayo
It was a tight match but Dublin won and it reminded me of this picture of my brother
He loved Dublin and went to alot of the matches but he died before Dublin started there winning streak. So he never got to see the team he loves so much raise the Sam, but I know he was smiling down on Croke Park

I always wear Patrick's Dublin jersey when Dublin are in the final.
Oisìn asked to wear this time so I let him and he was so pleased
but it did look like an over sized nightie on him!

That Sunday it was ten years since this funny face left us
It did hit me a little hard that morning I had some time out listening to his favourite songs.
I really missed him it's funny how even after ten years it can feel like yesterday
He was a beautiful gentle soul and the world is a little bit darker and harsh without him

We had a family dinner at ours that Sunday it was a day to spend with family
We raised a glass of Patrick and spoke about the good times with him
When my parents had gone home Paul and I watched our Sunday night favourites
Poldark and Victoria

After a illness filled week this was very much needed Friday night
Oisìn & I have been filled with cold and hubby had a chest and sinus infection
So it was nice to chill out with a glass of vino and watch Gogglebox

On Saturday I got some of the Halloween bits down
Oisìn was slightly scared but came around and now loves talking to the pumpkin!

Speaking of Oisìn he seems to be going through a funny stage
He has been lashing out in creche and at home
He has regressed in potty training and it feels like we are starting again with toilet training
I think moving into the older room in creche has set him back a bit
This Mammy needed alot of patience this weekend with tantrums and wetting accidents!

A last minute family Sunday roast happened which was really nice
I love having my parents for dinner and Sunday really is our family day
Bubbles, candles and Poldark finished off our weekend!

Console Celebration of Light

On Sunday evening I was once again invited to Console's annual concert
for family and friends who have lost loved ones through suicide
Last year my Mam came with me this year I managed to get three tickets and
my Father could also attend with us
It was my third year to attend and it means so much to me
giving us one evening over the festive time to just remember and celebrate
my brother who we lost in 2006
Although we miss him every day and think of him all the time
This is a beautiful two and half hours once a year to just remember, cry, think and celebrate his life

My Dad like my Mam last year was unsure
what to expect, he is not very religious and was hoping it wasn't praying for two hours!
When the he realised it was an evening of celebration, songs and poems
he really relaxed and really enjoyed his time there

This year's theme was Hope and yes there is still Hope and Light
After you go through something like this everything seems dark
There doesn't seem to be any light around but believe me there is
always a little light in the dark
It might be small but it's there growing
On the evening one candle is lit then we are all given candles
and we light them together to represent this

This year's beautiful singers included
Paul Hennessy who sang You Raise Me Up,
Liam Lawton who sang Bring Him Home,
Rebecca Storm sang You'll Never Walk Along
and Jack L sang Ole Man River
Christy Keneally who narrated the evening has such a beautiful way with words

Again I watched my parents leave a little lighter then they entered
My Dad didn't stop talking about it all the way home!
The thing that I love about this evening is that
We can grieve and let our feelings out knowing
everyone there is feeling the same way
It's nine years since our brother left this world
the pain will always be there
Knowing we have an evening like this every year
makes the pain a little more bearable
Thank you to everyone at Console for this amazing evening
Remember Suicide it not
the answer there is always
light at the end of the tunnel
please talk

Over The Weekend #7

This weekend it was Halloween and I wasn't sure how
Oisín was going to like it! He didn't like the costumes in the shops and
wasn't very keen on the decorations, but I didn't have to worry
he loved it!

Oisín had a Halloween morning in daycare
on Friday and he wore his glow in the dark
trick of treat Peppa Pig top!

Our little Pumpkin King!
He really enjoyed seeing the other children
dressed up, and when he realised he was getting sweets
he seem to like it even more!
Mama Witch and Baby Pumpkin!

We watched the fireworks while at
the bonfire

Sunday was another lovely day my parents came up
for Sunday Lunch but I forgot to get out my camera
to take any pictures

Then we it was prosecco and Downton Time!

The Year That Was 2014

2014 went by in a bit of a whirl wind and it was a bit of a roller coaster
but it was my first year as a Mammy and nothing can ever come close to
the past year.

January: This month saw us start a new year
as parents
This month I had never felt more sleep deprived
in my life but looking back it was one of
my favourite months of the year

February/March: February was a nice month for us
Paul's first birthday as a Daddy, first night out while
Grandparents babysat Oisín!
March was more of a trying month, we got news
that our Landlord had been declared bankrupted
so we had 20 days to move out!
Packing, trying to find a place with
a new baby....not fun!

April: We moved back into my parents this month
as we couldn't find anywhere suitable to live
in 20 days! It was also Oisín's christening this month
it was an amazing day with all our friends and family

May: Saw us going away for our first
weekend away without Oisín my parents babysit
It was lovely to have two nights away dinner,
drinks and lie ins!
We also moved into our new house the end of May
and I went back to work

June/July: June saw my Dad turn 70th!!
We had a few drinks and a huge family dinner
Mam and Dad went on a break away to Scotland
In July we had picnics in the park and family
swim days. Paul and I also attend the wedding
of two of our lovely friends

August: Was the month I crashed and burned!
I was sick in bed for over two weeks
ear, throat and jaw infections you name it
I got it! It was also the month we discovered
how much of a bitch teething can be!

September: It was a good month, our 3rd wedding anniversary
and the month my Mam and I got to walk the famous
Coronation Street cobbles! I got a surprise early 30th birthday
present from Paul and my parents. A soap tour to visit
the sets of Coronation Street and Emmerdale, shopping and
spending money!
We also celebrated my Mam's birthday this month too

October: Is never my favourite month
it was my brother's eight year anniversary
but I had this little man to help me
get through it

November: Was an up and down month
we started off good. Oisín had his first
meal in a restaurant this month and was
good as gold. He enjoyed pasta, bread sticks,
cheese and ice cream!
We then all got the horrible winter bug
and where down with that for nearly two weeks
as poor Oisín got it twice

December: My favourite month of the year
What amazing month this was, from Oisín's
face when he saw the Christmas tree for the first time, to
his 1st Birthday party. Then bringing him to see
Santa Claus, enjoying night outs with friends and family.
had so many meals out I can't remember them all!!
My 30th birthday celebrations, Christmas day
was wonderful and of course on the 27th it was Oisín's
1st birthday.

2014 you have been amazing can't to see what 2015
has in store.

My Week In Pictures 13/52

This week was a bit hard for me
the sudden death of Robin Williams
brought up alot of hard memories and feelings
of my brothers death, but I look at my son and
husband and feel blessed at what I have x

Saturday:

We had a few pictures for Saturday
we went to the Dublin Irish Horse Show in the RDS
we had a lovely day out

Sunday:
Sunday night wine time, with popcorn and a movie!

Monday:
Oisín's hair is growing more spiky every day!
Look at his fast asleep with his mouth wide open!

Tuesday:
The news of Robin Williams death really had me heartbroken
one of my favourite childhood memories was watching
old re-runs of Mork and Mindy at tea time with my family
it also brought up alot of hard feeling and memories of
my brothers death. RIP Robin

Wednesday:
Trying out this coffee for my nepresso machine from Lidi

Thursday:
We bought Oisin and early birthday present of a set of swings
we have never had our own back garden so we saw a
set of swings going cheap in Smiths toy store and decided to pick them
up as an early birthday present for Oisin!

Friday:
We are going to sit down and watching the
wonderful late Robin Williams in Hook
one of my favourite movies
