Slimming World Christmas Meals Planning

My calendar is filling up for December, I love this time of the year, but I always have allot on as December is also my birthday month. I have worked so hard since the Summer to lose weight and eat well. I don't want to blow all that hard work but I also want to enjoy myself so I will be using flexi syns for allot of the meals out but will be extra good on days leading up to days and nights out.
I have something planned for every week in December, sometimes a number of things on the same week so it will take some good food planning in between to keep the weight off!

* Monday 30th November - Rathwood Santa Train with Oisín
This is a children's event that we are bringing Oisín to
a Santa Train around the Rathwood Grounds
Then to see Santa and real reindeer then off to make your very own elf
We will be having lunch and hot chocolate here
but I have decided to save on the syns and bring my own lunch!
But I will enjoy a nice hot chocolate but syn it!

* Friday 4th December - Family Christmas Day Out
This is one of our family traditions a day out into Dublin City Centre
To bring Oisín to see Santa Clause (again) go to the Christmas Markets
Finish our Christmas shopping, see the Christmas lights
and finish off with dinner
For dinner I will be using my flexi syns and will be having a glass of wine with dinner
I plan to be extra good for the week leading up to this so might be saving syns during the
week to keep for this day

* Saturday 5th December - Slimming World Christmas Party
I will be having dinner and drinks at this, again I will be using flexi syns
I expect a little gain after this week after having a few events this week
but I will be remembering my tipping point and plan to not have dessert

* Saturday 12th December - Girls Birthday/Christmas Meal
My friends and I always met up before Christmas to swap presents
and enjoy a girls night out. We will be going to a beautiful Thai restaurant
I have already ate here before so I know what the menu is like
I will choose an on plan starter and main, then skip desert to instead
enjoy a few glasses of bubbly my drink of choice
Again I plan to be very good the week before this meal
and use flexi syns

* Saturday 19th December - Christmas At The Dogs Work Night Out
For something different this year my Christmas work do is a dogs race night
I am really looking forward to this and have decided to relax and enjoy the night
I will be having on plan starter and main, but will enjoy dessert and drinks

*Monday 21st December - My Birthday Meal Out
As a tradition hubby and I always go out for meal for on Christmas week
for my birthday which is on Christmas Eve.
I am really looking forward to this we are going to Jamie Oliver's
I will skip a starter, have flexi syns for my main enjoy dessert and a glass of wine

I have to be honest  Christmas Day I will not be counting syns
I am going to eat, drink, relax and enjoy Christmas day
and be back on plan the 26th!

My Weight Loss Journey

Where to start on this one!? Since having our beautiful little boy almost two years ago
I haven't been happy with my weight. I gained almost two stone when pregnant on Oisín
and by the time I was diagnosed with gestational diabetes the damaged had been done!
Last year I lacked the motivation to do anything about my weight and actually gained another half a stone, so by this summer I was so unhappy about to go on holidays with a suitcase of clothes that didn't fit me!
Then I realised my best friends wedding was in two months and I couldn't fit into my bridesmaids dress!! I knew I had to do something, I could either comfort eating everything in sight or actually do something about.
So I took to the gym, done spinning classes, aqua fit and walking but with having PCOS I lose weight slowly I knew I need something to help me along and give me a boost.
So I decided to give the Forever Aloe Vera 9 day detox a go. I am not going to lie it was hard the first few days when you can't eat but drink the aloe vera gel and shakes is awful but knowing I had a goal at the end gave me so much motivation. I wanted to walk down that aisle holding my little boy's hand on my best friend's big day feeling and looking good in my bridesmaid's dress!
In the nine day's I lost just under a stone and was down 7inchs in my waist! I was thrilled the morning of the wedding my dress fitted perfect and I felt amazing

Afterwards I knew I didn't want to put the weight back on and
wanted to keep the feel good factor of losing weight. So my friend and I decided to officially join
Slimming World. I had been making Slimming World meals for a while but never went to join a group or was never on plan before. I am loving slimming world and find the meals delicious and the plan really easy to follow. I love going to group, meeting new people, sharing ideas, recipes and stories. So far in Slimming World I have lost 7lbs and am fitting into clothes that haven't fit me since Oisín was born! I am loving going clothes shopping again and am slowly becoming me again!

Battle of the Bulge - Update

At the moment Battle of the Bulge is on hold as I am quite happy with my weight I have lost a stone in weight and I am back down to a size 12. I think it has got to do with all the walking to and from work but also part of it is to do with the medication I am on for my PCOS as my hormone levels are back to normal. I feel a lot better in myself. I am walking everyday up to 5km and still go swimming most weeks. I have to be honest and say that I haven't been in the gym since November I am hoping to go back soon!

Battle of the Bulge - Week 18

Monday & Tuesday: Was really sick with sore tummy from my new meds and sore throat and ear infection. Didn't go to work for two days and spent 48 hours wrapped up in a duvet eating soup!

Wednesday: Felt well enough to go to work for a few hours then down to my parents where I managed to eat a little stew.

Thursday: Walked to work today, work dragged in today!! After work I met Paul and we went food shopping. Fell into bed at 9pm!!

Friday: Walked to work again today it was a lovely fresh morning so I just took my time strolling to work today! It was a long day in work and I got the bus home. Paul was working late so I just made a quick pasta bake enough so Paul could heat so up later.

Saturday: Most of the day was spent cleaning the apartment before my cousins came up. Dinner was beef fatias.

Sunday: Paul and I went for a little work around our park today and afterwards done some Christmas shopping. Our boiler broke in our apartment so the rest of the day was spent trying to get some one to fix it :(

This week wasn't great I am still trying to get use to my new meds the tablets are very strong and give me an upset tummy, but as the week went on I think I am starting to get used to them. Then our boiler broke down the middle of the week and it doesn't look like it can be repaired. Fingers crossed next week might be better in diet and exercise.

Friday: Was lazy today wasn't feeling great so got a taxi to work and the bus home. I wasn't in the mood for cooking when I got home so we called for an Indian takeout it was lovely!

Sunday: Was feeling poorly today so Paul made dinner it was steak, leeks and mash lovely.

Sorry haven't been updating as much but I was really shattered from Wednesday onwards after my hospital appointment. My body has been trying to get use to my new meds and I also picked up a stomach bug over the weekend that has zapped all my energy the past few days. Hopefully the rest of this week will be a little better.

Week 13

Monday: Walked to work today it was a nice morning so it was a nice 4.5km walk. I was mind my parents house and looking after there little dog this week so after work I walked 2.5km to there house. Making dinner for one sucks so I just has some chicken soup for dinner.

Again it was dinner for one as Paul was up in our apartment as I was minding my parents house while they where on holidays. So dinner was just beans on toast for me as I was doing the late shift in work. I also ate about three bars of chocolate....pms is a nightmare!!!

Wednesday: Today was my day off work today so I brought my parents dog PJ on a walk! We walked about 4km well I say walked I was more dragged then walked!!! I made steaks, mushrooms and mash for dinner today as Paul joined me house-sitting! Such bad PMS that I cried at the one show and ate my weight in chocolate!!

Thursday: Last day of house/dog sitting for my parents. Walked to work from my parents house so a 2.5km walk. After work Paul & I went food shopping (is it sad that I look forward to this) so dinner was just a quick pizza and chips.

This week again wasn't a great week I think I have hit a wall. My motivation is gone and I still don't seem to be losing much weight. Next week I start a new job and will be doing a lot more walking. Hopefully next week will be a better week!

Battle of the Bulge - Week 8

After a week break my battle of the bulge plan is back and it hasn't been a great week!

Week 8:

Monday: Well after a week of not doing my battle of the bulge plan eating what I wanted when I wanted and no exercise I felt very squishy around the edges!! I walked over 5.5km today, dinner was chicken enchiladas yummy!!!

Tuesday: After walking the legs off myself yesterday I was so achy and stiff today =( A case of doing to much to soon me thinks! I only managed to do 30 minutes of exercise at home today! Dinner was steak, potatoes, leeks and sweetcorn.

Wednesday: Today I done four hours of house work (place hasn't been cleaned in over a week!) and 30 minutes of house work. Dinner was chicken & gnocchi.

Thursday: Today I done 30 minutes of exercise....no motivation at all today =/ Paul was working late tonight so dinner for me was just a ham salad. Oh and a huge bar of chocolate!

Friday: I walked 4.5km today after not doing much yesterday I thought I better get off my bum and start doing some exercise! Dinner was pork chops, peas and chips.

Saturday: We walked 3km today today was my naught day so dinner was chicken thai curry with chips. We went to a get together in my parents tonight so we polished off a couple of bottles of wine!

Sunday: No exercise was done today. Dinner was in my parents-in law's it was a lovely Sunday roast with all the trimmings plus a couple of glasses of red wine.

The Bad
-I didn't go to the gym at all this week =/
- Felt bolated and squishy all week
- Lack of motivation to do much this week

The Good
+ I did do a good bit of walking this week
+ Ate alot of fruit this week
+ Lost half a pound this week =)

It took a while to get back into exercising this week after not doing any last week, and when I did of course I over do it on Monday and then that set the tone for the rest of the week. Midway through the week I lost motivation and didn't want to do anything! So my goal for next week is to get back to the gym at least once next week and to go swimming.

Battle of the Bulge - Week 7

Week 7:

Monday: Today we walked 3.5km and we went to the gym I done 20 minutes on the power-plate, 20 minutes doing weights and cycled 5km. Dinner was mustard pork chops, carrots and gnocchi....yummy!

Wednesday: Still out of action today, my ankle still slightly swollen today so on the advise of the hubby didn't go to the gym today. I did do 2 hours of house work and manged to do 30 minutes of light exercise. Hubby was working late tonight so dinner for me was a chicken salad.

Thursday: My foot & ankle was feeling a little better today so Paul & I walked 3.5km later on I walked another 1.5km. Dinner was pasta bake.

Sunday: I walked 2km today and dinner was roast pork, mash potatoes and leeks with onion gravy and red wine....lovely!!

The Bad
- My foot & ankle getting really sore & swollen
- The lack of exercise done because of sore foot

The Good
+ I have lost 2lbs
+ I have cut right back on snacking

This week was really frustrating I started off really well but overnight my foot swelled up to the size of a balloon and I had to rest it for most of the week but I did manage to lose 2lbs!! If you have been following my weight lose journey through the weeks you will know due to my pcos I am finding it hard to lose the extra weight and have only lost a total of 5.5lbs but my hubby who has be on this journey with me has lost a stone in weight since we started which is amazing I am so proud of him.
Battle of the Bulge will be taking a break for next week as the hubby has a week off work and we will be doing tourist things around Dublin which I will blog about next week.

We went to the cinema to see The Dark Night Rises and ate our own weight in ice cream and when we got home we had bun burgers and chips with a bottle of wine!!!!

Friday It took Paul nagging at me to finally make it to the gym today I was shattered and had no motivation today. We walked 2.5km and when I got to the gym I cycled 6km, done 25mins on the power-plated and some weights. Dinner was in my parents and it was beef with carrots, cabbage and potatoes.

I am starting to really enjoy going to the gym the feeling I get after a workout is really good. I am really enjoying the cycling and I am a little proud that I even pushed myself on Friday. The one thing that is getting my down is due to my PCOS I am more or less the same weight since I started. I have only lost 3.2lbs since I started but at least I know myself I am lot fitter than when I started so that must count for something!

Dinner was beef hash (God bless Jamie Oliver and his 30 min meals!) with jacket potatoes and corn on the cob..mmmm...

Wednesday: Paul & I went swimming this morning....well Paul tried to teach me for an hour! I also walked 3km. It was great exercise and I felt lovely and fresh after it. I done 2 hours house work this afternoon and dinner was chorizo and sweetcorn pasta bake. Paul was in work till late so it done for his lunch/supper too.

Thursday: I walked 4.5km today we went to the gym I cycled 5km, rowed 500m and went on the power- plate for 5 minutes. Paul was in work till late so I just had a left over pasta bake for dinner.

The Bad
- The lack of exercise I done over the weekend

- The weather at the start of the week was not giving me much motivation

The Good
+ I done alot of exercise this week
+ The power-plate love it
+ My legs are starting to look a little toned from all the walking

After the lack of doing anything last week, I had much more motivation this week. This week I walked over 17km in total over the week which is really good for me. I am really enjoying the cycling I also find it relaxing. The power-plate is my new favourite but the cross-trainer is still my enemy at the moment!! The weekend I felt bloated and fat again when I was looking in my wardrobe for something to wear for the show on Friday! My goal for next week is go the gym more and cut down on snacking.

One is never over-dressed or underdressed with a Little Black Dress

With my Battle of the Bulge plan going well (apart from last week) I am aiming to try get into two of my favourite dresses. A blue strapless prom dress I bought in the States and a cream lace dress I bought in Penny's (Primark). I am hoping to fit back into at least one of them in September for our first wedding anniversary.

Do you have a favourite dress or outfit that you hoping to fit back into?

Battle of the Bulge - Week 4

This week has been my worst week so far....ate lots of chocolate and lacked motivation to do much exercise.

Week 4:

Monday: I done 2 hours house work and walked 2km today. Dinner was peppered steaks, sweetcorn and roast potatoes.

Tuesday: I walked 2km today and done 30mins exercise at home today. Dinner was breaded chicken, peas and baby potatoes.

Wednesday: I walked 3km today in which I was caught in three rain showers!!! Went to my parents for dinner it was steak, carrots, peas and potatoes it was lovely I also had a few glasses of wine with my parents.

Thursday: I walked 3km today. Dinner was a quick pasta bake and I ate half a huge bar of chocolate! =/

Friday: I walked 1.5km today. Dinner was baked sea bass with salad.

Saturday: Had a bit more motivation today. We walked 3km, we bought a badminton set today in aldi so we played badminton today for an hour and half. It was good fun. Today was my naughty day never mind naughty day I have been bad with my diet all week!! Paul made a lovely Thai green chicken curry with rice and poppadoms washed down with some white wine!

Sunday: We played badminton for an hour today...stupid rain made us stop!! Dinner was bangers and mash with onion gravy with a glass of red wine!

The Bad
- The lack of exercise & motivation I had all week
- The huge amount of chocolate I ate this week!!
- I ate a serious amount of carbs & comfort food this week
- The weather...half an hour walk & getting caught in 3 rain downpours!

The Good
+ The fact that I actually did any exercise this week..is an achievement
+ I found a sport I like Badminton its great fun!
+ Still walking and enjoying the fresh air
+ The new healthy recipes I found can't wait to try them next week

So this week was a bit of a waste I lacked motivation to do anything this week, so I spent most of it eating chocolate, drinking tea, reading and feeling sorry for myself! The weekend was a little better we bought a badminton set for aldi and enjoyed a few hours over the weekend playing it in the park across from our apartment. My aim for next week is to get back to the gym and swimming pool walk more, to try out the new recipes I found and to hopefully lose a couple of pounds.

Battle of The Bulge - Week 3

This week I lost 1.5 pounds. I can now fit into two pairs of jeans that two weeks ago wouldn't even close on me!!!

Week 3:

Battle of The Bulge - Week 1!

I have being trying to decide for the past couple of days should I share my problems with weight gain on this blog....I have decide I will as it will help me record how I am doing.
Due to Polycystic Ovary Syndrome (PCOS) my body shape has changed alot. One of the many symptoms of PCOS is weight gain with extra weight around the waist. So as a result of that I have gained a stone in weight over the past five/six months....I have gone up almost two dress sizes from a size 10 to a size 14!! Over the weekend I weighted myself and decide that I have to do something about this weight gain, because of the fertility treatments I am starting soon I can't use any slimming products so I will have to do it the old fashioned way diet & exercise!
I will record how I do each week in a weekly post....i.e. what exercise I done, what I ate, the good things and my downfalls of each week. I am going to allow myself one naughty day a week were I can ate what I want, and maybe have a few drinks!
My goal is to lose 10 pounds & be a toned size 12 by September. I have bought myself a killer pair of jeans and would love to fit into them by September! Wish me luck!!

We went to an engagement party tonight so a few vodka and cranberry was had...maybe a few too many =) No exercise was done..unless you call drunk dancing exercise!
Sunday: Was in a bit of a bad state today...the morning after the night before!! Paul & I walked 2.5km today and dinner was tray baked chicken...(Jamie Oliver style) and potatoes.

The Bad:
- The bottle of cider I had on Thursday!
- The huge piece of chocolate cake I had on Thursday =/
- Ate a lot of carbs this week.
- My legs and feet are aching!
- Walking in the rain =(

The Good:
+ Feeling the benefits of walking already.
+ Not being out of breath when taking the stairs in our apartment!
+ My legs are aching..surely that's a good sign!
