My Weight Loss Journey



Where to start on this one!? Since having our beautiful little boy almost two years ago
I haven't been happy with my weight. I gained almost two stone when pregnant on Oisín 
and by the time I was diagnosed with gestational diabetes the damaged had been done!
Last year I lacked the motivation to do anything about my weight and actually gained another half a stone, so by this summer I was so unhappy about to go on holidays with a suitcase of clothes that didn't fit me!
Then I realised my best friends wedding was in two months and I couldn't fit into my bridesmaids dress!! I knew I had to do something, I could either comfort eating everything in sight or actually do something about.
So I took to the gym, done spinning classes, aqua fit and walking but with having PCOS I lose weight slowly I knew I need something to help me along and give me a boost.
So I decided to give the Forever Aloe Vera 9 day detox a go. I am not going to lie it was hard the first few days when you can't eat but drink the aloe vera gel and shakes is awful but knowing I had a goal at the end gave me so much motivation. I wanted to walk down that aisle holding my little boy's hand on my best friend's big day feeling and looking good in my bridesmaid's dress!
In the nine day's I lost just under a stone and was down 7inchs in my waist! I was thrilled the morning of the wedding my dress fitted perfect and I felt amazing

     
Afterwards I knew I didn't want to put the weight back on and
wanted to keep the feel good factor of losing weight. So my friend and I decided to officially join
Slimming World. I had been making Slimming World meals for a while but never went to join a group or was never on plan before. I am loving slimming world and find the meals delicious and the plan really easy to follow. I love going to group, meeting new people, sharing ideas, recipes and stories. So far in Slimming World I have lost 7lbs and am fitting into clothes that haven't fit me since Oisín was born! I am loving going clothes shopping again and am slowly becoming me again!

(Paul is on the late shift in work)

Saturday: Homemade Thai Chicken Curry with Boiled Rice

Sunday: Jamie Oliver's Toad In The Hole

Monday: Jamie Oliver's Sausage Gnocchi

Tuesday: Mash Potato, Meat Balls, Onions and Gravy

Wednesday: Chilli Con Carne, Boiled Rice and Salad

Finding it a little hard to week to keep motivate
Oisín is going through a fussy fancy and will only eat certain things!!

Meal Plan Thursday


Another week of eating bits and bobs
before I defrost our freezer
it really needs a good clean out
and I don't want to buy more until
I can defrost it and clean it
So our meal plan is a little all over the place!

(Oisín will have chicken and noodles)

Friday: Mexican beef taco's with all the trimmings and cheesy nachos!
(Oisín will have beef salad bowls)

Saturday: Chinese takeout
(Oisín will have some frozen homemade spaghetti bolognese)


Monday: Green Thai Curry served with boiled rice
(Oisín will have leftovers from yesterday)

Tuesday: Guilty pleasure dinner mustard gammon steaks, fried egg and oven chips
(Oisín will have eggs and chips)

Wednesday: Slimming word ready meal Meatballs and pasta with sauce as Paul is working late!
(Oisín will have mash potato, peas and sausage)

Meal Plan Thursday



Using up lots of bits and bobs this week
before I defrost my freezer before next weeks
shopping! So it's a little mix mash of things for dinner this week!

Thursday: Chicken and leek pies, with salad potatoes and green beans

Friday: Homemade cheese burgers with oven chips and salad
(Oisín will have fish fingers and over chips)

Saturday: Slimming World's Doner Kebab served in pitta bread with salad and homemade coleslaw

Sunday: Roast Chicken with roast potatoes, peas, gravy and yorkshire puds

Monday: Slimming Worlds Easy Tuna Bake without the spinach served with salad

Tuesday: Comfort food dinner Sausage, egg and homemade chips
(This is one of mine and Oisín's favourite dinners. I craved it all the time when I was pregnant!)

Wednesday: I am off out to a show and dinner with my Mam and friends!

So thats our meal plan for this week!

Meal Plan Thursday




Thursday: We are off out for a date day! To the cinema and for a meal
(Oisín will get dinner at his Grandparents)

Friday: Spicy pork collar chops, served with salad potatoes and mint peas
(Oisín will have the potatoes and mint peas)

Saturday: Diet Coke Chicken served with rice and salad

Sunday: Good old fashion Irish dinner!
Bacon ribs, mash potatoes and cabbage!
(I will take the meat off the bone for Oisín and he loves his
mash and cabbage mixed together!)

Monday: Jamie Oliver's Spaghetti with prawns and rocket
(Oisín will only eat the spaghetti and sauce he doesn't like prawns)

Tuesday: Slimming World's Chili Con Carne

Wednesday: Slimming World's Chicken tikka masala served with boiled rice

Thursday: Slimming World's Bolognese pasta bake served with lots of salad

Friday: Slimming World's Burger in a bowl with oven chips

Saturday: Gammon steaks, chips and eggs (my guilty pleasure dinner)
(Oisín will have fish fingers and chips)

Sunday: Roast beef, roast potatoes, broccoli, peas, yorkshire puddings and gravy

Monday: Chicken stir fry served with egg noodles
(Oisín will have chicken veg and noodles)

Tuesday: Steak and kidney pies, oven chips and peas

Wednesday: Slimming Word's Cajun Chicken served with boiled rice

So that's our meal plan for the week. I hit a bit of a wall this week with meals
as I had to use up what I had in the freezer before I go shopping again next week.

Saturday: We are doing alot of gardening today so dinner is quick
Stand and Stuff beef Taco's
(Oisín will have beef salad bowls)

Sunday: Steak in the oven with onions, mushrooms served with cheddar mash

Monday: Jamie Oliver's Chicken tikka masala with boiled rice

Tuesday: Meat balls and spaghetti

Wednesday: Slimming Worlds Rich bangers and bean casserole without the pumpkin!

That's our meal plan for this week
We do try change things up and keep our diet varied
Paul loves to cook so he helps me every week sit down
and do our meal plan

(Oisín will have chicken, chickpeas and rice)

Good Friday: Jamie Oliver's sunblush mash, golden scallops with broccoli and green beans

Saturday: We are having a family Easter dinner today
Ham in coke, with roast potatoes, carrots, and green beans

Easter Sunday: Left over ham in coke, roast lamb, mash potatoes, peas, carrots and gravy

Monday: I am off out for a meal and theater show with my Dad
Paul and Oisín will be eating in his parents!

Tuesday: Sticky bacon ribs, corn on the cob and sweet potato fries

Wednesday: Slimming worlds diet coke chicken served with lots of salad

Meal Plan Thursday




Thursday: Sea Bass baked in the over
 with herbs, garlic, lemon served with courgettes and salad potatoes
(Oisín loves this fish and courgettes)

Friday: Beef stir fry with lots of veg and noodles
(Oisín will have the beef, veg and noodles with no sauce)

Saturday:  Homemade steak and kidney pie served with home made chips and salad
(Oisín will have fish fingers, peas and chips)

Sunday: Slimming world's toad in the hole served with roast potatoes

Monday: Jamie Oliver's Sausage Gnocchi
(We all love this in our house but it's a special favourite with Oisín!)

Tuesday: Sticky chilli pork with roast pepper cous cous
(Oisín will have the pork no chilli and cous cous)

Wednesday: Spaghetti bolognese

Meal Plan Thursday



We do our weekly food shop every Thursday
we do most of our weekly shop in Aldi
We love this shop and have being buying our food
there ever since we moved in together five years ago
Now that I have joined slimming world
and and trying to eat more healthy 
I have decided to try do a meal plan
I think if we are more prepared we will eat healthy
I will post our meal plan every Thursday
and then post one recipe from that meal plan

Thursday: Slimming worlds doner kebab with pitta bread and home made slaw
(Oisín loves the pitta bread and slaw)

Friday: Chicken stir fry with egg noodles 
(Oisín has the chicken and noodles without sauce)

Saturday: Paul's homemade pizza with mushrooms, pepperoni, parma ham and bacon

Sunday: Sunday roast chicken with potatoes, carrots, broccoli and peas

Monday: Left over chicken, mushroom and leek pie served with lots of salad

Tuesday: Irish beef stew 
(Oisín's favourite!)

Wednesday: Left over stew served with mash potatoes and peas

So that's over meal plan for the week!

Five Things 4/52


Monday comes around again
another weekend gone
and it's February!
Our weekend was very quite
as I had another toothache
and need to go the dentist
this week
Hubby was in work for the whole
weekend
but Oisín and I did have a nice weekend together.
Here is my five things  

Friday Oisín had his measles vaccination 
Friday night Oisín found it hard to sleep as the
effects of the needle started.
Early hours of the morning I took Oisín out of his cot to 
comforted him. He fell asleep on my shoulder,
I lay down on the bed and we feel asleep
like that for two hours
I didn't get a picture but that was a lovely
moment. 
As Oisín isn't a baby that cuddles alot 
or falls asleep on my shoulder
he hasn't done that since he was weeks old
Hubby said at one stage
Oisín and I were both snoring!  

Sunday morning happiness in a strong cup of 
coffee in my favourite cup!

What I Ate Wednesday




Poor Oisín has been teething again badly the past few days
so didn't eat much for me today but more bottles
Here is what we ate today:

Breakfast 7.30am:
I had two weetabix with skimmed milk and banana

Oisín had one weetabix with milk and
a 5 oz bottle of formula

Lunch 1pm:
I had a large cup of tea
water crackers, tomatoes, ham and cream cheese

Oisín had left overs from yesterday's dinner
mash potato and carrots,
he tried to eat most of this he had another 5oz bottle after this

Dinner 5.30pm:
I had chicken and chick pea curry with rice

Oisín wouldn't eat an dinner for me but had a 6oz bottle

What I Ate Wednesday


Here is what we ate today!

Breakfast 7am:
Still loving the breakfast smoothies
so I had banana, strawberries, raspberries, blueberries, mango
and yogurt in this one. Oisín also loves smoothies
so he had a little taste of one too!

Oisín had porridge with some raspberries
and a 5oz bottle of milk.

Snacks 11.30am:
I was feeling the cold and really hungry today
so I had a cup of minestrone soup in work
Oisín has been really liking cheese so
my Mam gave him some cheese as snacks today

Lunch 1pm:
I fancied some grilled cheese today for lunch
so that's what I had with a cup of coffee

Oisín had some mash with carrots today
which where leftovers from yesterdays dinner!

Dinner 5.30pm:
Oisín and I both had spaghetti bolognese for dinner
as the hubby was working late it was just dinner
for two!! Oisín really enjoyed this!

What I Ate Wednesday



Here is what we ate today:

Breakfast 7.30am:
Wasn't much in the house to make
a breakfast smoothie with so I has
banana, blueberries, ice and natural yogurt
with a glass of water for breakfast!

Oisin had weetabix (again) with half
a banana and a 4oz bottle of milk

Lunch 1.30pm:
Paul made lovely homemade butternut squash soup
for lunch. I had this with some cracker bread and a glass of
milk

Oisín had the same butternut squash for
lunch we just made it a little thicker with
no seasoning and he loved it!

Dinner 6pm:
 I really wanted comfort food
so we had home made chicken and mushroom pie
with mash potato

Oisín had mash potato, peas, gravy and chicken

What I Ate Wednesday



The past few days have been a little hectic
here in the Furey Follies household
Oisín has decided that he no long sleeps
past 5.30am and with work being busy
and trying to cover people on sick leave
I am a little all over the place when it comes to food
still trying to eat well and proper meals

Breakfast 7am:
Breakfast today was two weetabix
with half a banana with warm skimmed milk
a tall glass of water with lemon

Oisín had one weetabix with the other half
of my banana. I make this with warm water
and one scoop of milk formula. Oisín also
had a 4oz bottle after breakfast

Snacks 11.30am:
Oisín had some sliced apple for snacks today
but didn't seem to like it as he didn't eat
much of it
I had an apple in work with a
berocca boost!

Lunch 1pm:
Lunch for me today was a
ham and cheese toastie on wholemeal bread
with some crisps and a coffee

Oisín's lunch today was half a jar of pork casserole 
from Heinz and a yogurt. He had water with
this and an hour later had a 4oz bottle

Dinner 5.30am:
For my dinner today I had homemade chilli with
boiled rice with a glass of milk

Oisín had left over Sunday dinner which I froze
on Sunday. It was potatoes, green beans, pork
and gravy. He has this with some water
and later a 4oz bottle before bed.

What I Ate Wednesday


Still trying to eat as good and healthy
as I can, not doing to bad!
Here is what we ate today!

Breakfast 7.30am:
My breakfast was a large glass of water with lemon
two weetabix with bananas blueberries and cold 
skimmed milk

Oisín has porridge with strawberries
and a 4oz bottle afterwards

Lunch 1.45pm:
I wanted something a little different for lunch
so I had some bacon on a muffin
with a cup of tea

Oisín had some pasta with tomatoes 
with some water for lunch
He also had a 5oz bottle after lunch

Dinner 6pm:
My dinner was boiled potatoes with
bacon chops with garlic butter and
a glass of water

Oisín had mash potato, carrot, pork and
gravy for dinner, with some water
This was from our Sunday lunch but
I froze it

After Dinner Treat 8pm:
I had a piece of cream and jam cake
with a cup of tea tonight
while watching the bake off!
