Battle of the Bulge - Week 15

Week 15

Monday: I got a taxi to work after waking up late!! Nightmare rushing to work while just having a breakfast bar for breakfast! I got the bus home from work but I did walk 3km to the bus stop! Diner was a lovely home made curry and I was so hungry from no breakfast I had second helpings!

Tuesday: I got the bus to work so it was a 4km walk to the bus stop I was off work at 2pm so I went to my parents for dinner this evening as Paul was working late. Dinner was oven baked fish, with green beans and mash potatoes. Mam made a lovely cheese cake for pudding and it was yummy! I got a taxi home curtsey of my lovely parents.

Wednesday: I was on the late shift at work today and so was Paul. I walked to the bus stop so another 4km walk! I made a hot BLT for my dinner/supper today.

Thursday: Today was my day off work today. So I walked down to the swimming pool which was a 5km walk and went for a hour swim. Spent the rest of the day cleaning the apartment! Dinner was red pepper, sweetcorn, chili, chorizo pasta-bake which I will blog about soon!

Friday: It was a fresh cold morning so I walked the 7km to work. After a long head wrecking day in work I walked the 2km to the bus stop and also picked up a bottle of wine to have after a long hellish day at work! We where bold tonight and had pizza and onion rings for dinner!

Saturday: Today was mostly spent getting ready for our friends fancy dress 30th tonight! I did make a lovely beef casserole for dinner. Then it was off out for our friend's fancy dress 30th birthday so dancing and drinks was had!

Sunday: Was such a lazy day I spent the extra hour in bed! Dinner was a Chinese takeout and it was yummy washed down with a couple of glasses of white wine!

I am happy with this week I am not putting and pressure on myself but I am trying to eat healthy and trying to keep fit!

My Favourite Halloween Movies

With the weekend that is in it the hubby and I will be watching some horror movies here are my favourite Halloween movies, first of all I am not into the normal scary movies i.e. Friday 13th, Scream, Saw, or Nightmare on Elm Street are not my cup of tea! Here are my top 10 Halloween Movies.

10. The Wicker Man
I watched this movie when I was 17 and it scared the daylights out of me! The story of the young police man (Edward Woodward) who comes in search of a young woman who goes missing on a strange remote island. Stranger still is the crazy pagan rituals that still go on in this small island. The ending stayed with me for days! Stay away from the terrible remake with Nicholas Cage.

9. Carrie
Another movie I watched when I was 17!! I sat down to watch this thinking it was a coming of age movie how wrong was I!? Pigs blood, God fearing Mother, bulling, and a teenagers scorn left me terrified! Remake of this movie in the works.

8. Zombieland
Unlike my hubby who loves all things Zombie. Games (Dead Island) films (28 Days later) and TV shows (The Walking Dead) I am NOT into anything zombie except this movie. Its sh*t ass scary with zombies jumping out from everywhere but it has some humour too with Woody Harrelson running around trying to find the last Twinkie in America! Meant to be a sequel in the works!

7. Misery
You dirty bird!! Again other classic I saw in my teens and I enjoyed it. Kathy Bates is fantastic as the crazy obsessed fan of James Cann's author character. Classic line from Kathy Bates, great novel and screenplay from Stephen King.

6.Alien
A Film I never watched fully until recently I really enjoy this jump fest by Ridley Scott. S Weaver is amazing as Ripley, as the crew realise that they are not alone on there ship or the planet they have come to explore. The best of all the Alien movies by far.

5. The Wolfman
In my opinion a very underrated remake of the classic 1941 movie with Lon Chaney Jr. This movie made in 2007 and released in 2010 has a number of different issues with directors leaving half way through shooting and three different release dates. It did however have a amazing cast including Benicio Del Toro, Emily Blunt and Anthony Hopkins it has become one of my favourite movies ever. Even a man who is pure in heart and says his prayers by night, may become a wolf when the wolfbane blooms, and the autumn moon is bright.
4. Lost Boys
I love this classic 80's movie from the cast to the great 80's soundtrack Dianne West & Edward Herrmann lead this cast of youths. Its of course Kiefer Sutherland who out classes everyone with his amazing acting as vampire gang leader David. I forget how many times I have watched this movie, but I stay away from the straight to TV sequels.

3. The Monster Squad
This is like the Goonies of the horror films! I love this tongue in cheek horror/family movie. It is about young Sean who forms a monster squad with his different aged friends. He believes Dracula is alive and he is right! Dracula is making his own monster squad with Frankenstein, the mummy, the wolfman and Gillman. With out Sean and his friends help the world will be doomed, great film pity its so hard to find on DVD.

2. Fright Night
One of my favourite movies EVER!! The poster for this movie always and still does scary the crap out of me!! Charlie loves watching old horror movies especially the old vampire ones his hero is the vampire slayer Peter Vincent, but when two men move next door and only come out at night is Charlie imagination getting the better of him? When women start to literally fall at his neighbours Jerry's feet Charlie knows there is something not right. Chris Sarandon at his most hotest!I love this movie the new remake 2011 is not too bad either!

1. American Werewolf in London
I see the pale moon rising! Two American tourists get lost on the moors and all hell breaks lose! When his best friend is killed on the moors in England David has the most horrible dreams. He begins to feel different, but none of the locals will admit an animal attacked the two men. A werewolf is roaming London but who is he? I love this movie and John Landis wrote and directed this is an  amazing movie and Rick Baker werewolf make and effects are outstanding.

What is you favourite Halloween movies and what do you think of my list?

Love / Hate

Hate

* When smokes are in public areas i.e. standing at a bus stop, walking along the street or in parks, and they blow smoke near you.

* I know I said this one the last time but its strongly become the most annoying thing! When people rush on the bus before letting others off the bus - I nearly missed by stop the other day because of this.

* People getting wires crossed because of bad communication and then jumping to conclusions before even talking to you -so bloody annoying!

* The dark nights - I love winter and I don't mind the cold weather in fact I quite like it...hats, gloves, scarfs, tights and boots I love it! The one thing I don't like is when the clocks go back and it get starts to get dark at 4 and 5pm. I hate going to work in the dark mornings and coming home in the dark nights!

Love

* Sarah Brightman - I love her and her music I am really excited about her new album Dream chaser due out in January 2013. I love her even more due to the fact that she will be one of the first tourists to go to space in 2014 at the age of 54 she makes me feel like anything is possible and to never give up on your dream.

* The colours of the Autumn leaves - the make such love colours all over the park across from our apartment to look out every morning at the lovely colours make me happy!

* Starting our Christmas Shopping early - I love the run up to Christmas and to be honest we started our Christmas shopping at the end of September this year! My birthday is on Christmas Eve so the month of December does be crazy for us with family nights in, Christmas work party's and nights out for my Birthday. So I love to be prepared and enjoy my birthday month of December!

* Halloween - I am enjoying getting ready for Halloween and we are also going to a 30th birthday fancy dress which I am also looking forward to!

This are my love and hates recently. What are yours?

My Top TV Shows At The Moment

I find that with the dark nights coming in and the winter settling in I often watch more TV than in the summer. Here are a few of my favourite shows to snuggling up on the sofa to watch with a cup of hot chocolate!

The Paradise
I am enjoying this BBC One show. It is an adaptation of the novel Au Bonheur des Dames by Émile Zola. It tells the story of the fictional first Department Store of 1800's called The Paradise. A young country girl Denise (Joanna Vanderham) starts work as a ladies wear sales girl she is soon caught up in the ideas and charm of The Paradise and also with its owner the dark and mysterious Mr Moray. It also has a wonderful cast including Sarah Lancashire, Emun Elliott, and Olivia Hallinan. If you like Downton Abbey or Upstairs Downstairs you should give this a look.

Mike & Molly
I love this sitcom of a couple who met at an Over eaters Anonymous group and we see the up and downs of there relationship. The third series has started on Comedy Central UK and it takes off just as the couple get back from there honeymoon in Paris. The supporting cast are brilliant from Molly's wine drinking Mother Joyce, her pot smoking sister Victoria, Mike's smart mouth police partner Carl and Mike's sarcastic mother Peggy. It does often have the hubby and me laughing out loud!

The Great British Bake Off
I have never watched this show until this series. I think it was the different people that appealed to me this year when I decided to give it a go! Then of course the wonderful baking started and I just fell in love with this show! From crispbreads, petits fours, tortes and of course the show stoppers I was baking along, not very good but I was trying! The show is over now but we still have Mary and Paul's master classes on BBC Two to show us how its meant to be done. Oh My Giddy Aunt I can't wait!!

Father Ted
I am loving watching all the re-runs of this wonderfully funny Irish TV show! Father Ted Crilly and Craggy Island with it population of weird and funny characters! Father Jack..drink, drink drink! Father Dougal...real far away! Mrs Doyle..tea father?! Its such a funny show and it never get old no matter how much I watch it! More 4 show regular re-runs. My favourite episode is either the Christmas episode or Kicking Bishop Brennan up the Arse episode. Now go watch it go on, go on, go on, GO ON!!!

Once Upon A Time
This show is on Irish channel RTE One on Saturday or on Channel Five in the UK. Its an American ABC show it is a fantasy drama from the same people who brought us Lost. It takes place in the small town of Storybrooke the residents are actually characters from fairy tales that have been transported to the "real" world by an evil curse by a wicked witch. The only one who can break the curse is Emma who left the fairytale world before the curse was make thus making her the only person break the curse and restore everyone's memories. I am really enjoying this fun and light heart show.

The Big Big Theory
I am waiting for the next series for this to start on E4. This a really good funny show about four science geeks Leonard, Sheldon, Rajesh, Howard and there hot neighbour Penny. As the series have gone on we have met other characters such as Sheldon's girlfriend Amy, Howard's now wife Bernadette and have dealt with Penny and Leonard's on off relationship. I love this show and it always, always cheers me up after a bad day. Can't wait for series six to start showing on E4.

Downton Abbey
One of my favourite shows ever!! I have watched this from the very first episode way back in 2010! I love it! Set in the fictional Yorkshire estate of the amazing Downton Abbey it depicts the lives of the first class family the Crawleys and the servants who run Downton Abbey. From the lowly kitchen maid Daisy to master of the house Earl Robert Crawley. It has covered allot of events in its three series from the sinking of the Titanic, the first world war, Spanish flu and recently the civil unrest in Ireland. The first series for me was amazing the second was lacking but it back on form for this its third series. I can't wait for 9pm Sunday nights!

This is my list of favourite TV shows. What do you think of them and what are your favourite TV shows?
