What I Ate Thursday

Another week on my gestational diabetes diet so here is what I ate today:

Breakfast - 8am
I am still trying to see what I can eat for breakfast when my sugar levels are the highest so its a bit like trial and error. This morning I tried pumpkin and poppy seed wholemeal bread with sugar free jam with a cup of tea. I also took my prenatal and diabetes tablets with my breakfast. My sugar levels where okay after this so I can have this again for breakfast!

 Snack -10.30am
My mid-morning snack was some strawberries with yougart and a bottle of water

Lunch - 1pm
Lunch today was granary bread with ham, cheese, and tomato, with a cup of decafe coffee and canderel sweeter.

Snack-4pm
I had a a sugar free strawberry yogurt and a triangle cheese for my 4pm snack today. It's hard to know what to eat for snacks before you get bored of the same thing!

Dinner-6pm
For dinner we had a lovely spagetti and meatballs it was so nice.

Snack-9pm
Last snack of the day was jelly again! I really like this in the evening as it's nice and light.

That's what I ate today...how about you?

Bump To Baby - 30 Weeks Pregnant

- Baby is the size of a cabbage!
- Blip's bones are starting to harden and it's eyes are opening
- I am needing to wee all the time now!
- Feeling alot of pressure on my pelvis so I think baby has moved down this week
- A few friends had there babies this week, so can't wait to met our little blip!

How Many Weeks Pregnant?: 30 Weeks

Nickname For Baby?: Little Blip

Gender Of Baby?: We don't know!

Any Stretch Marks Yet?: Have a couple more not that worried but my whole belly has been so itchy this week and my skin feels really hot so a little uncomfortable. I have been having baths with different types of bath soaks to try take the itch away also went to boots and got some Cussons Mum and Me products this week so I am using these three products at the moment:
Garnier body intensive 7 days hydrating lotion which I have been using for a few months. Its not really a pregnancy product but I find it good for taking the itch of stretching skin away.
Derma V10 stretch mark cream which was only cheap but I have no bio oil left so I thought I would give it a go. I wasn't expecting much from it but it smells lovely and leaves my skin really soft, whether or not it's doing anything for my stretch marks or not I don't know!
Cussons Mum & Me stretch mark cream I am loving this it smells amazing and takes the itch totally away. I have noticed after I used this the few stretch marks I have don't seem as red and my skin feels so soft.

Any Maternity Clothes Yet?: Nothing new this week.

Any Movement Yet?: Lots and lots of movement, not so much in the morning but from lunch time onward this little one is constantly moving! Movements are getting so strong now, I have even been woke up in the night by a kick! It's going to be so weird when little blip is here and I no long have these movements!

How Is Sleeping?: Sleeping is the same as the past couple of weeks finding it hard to get comfortable and taking cat naps in the day time, but I did buy some Cussons Sleep Mist and have been using it the past couple of nights and it has worked! I have been sleeping around three hours straight with it and really feel well rested after using it!

Any Nausea?: None this week!

Food Cravings?: Mexican spicy food with lots of fresh vegetables, like beef tacos with fresh guacamole, chicken fajitas with avocado, pork enchiladas with lots of fresh lettuce and tomatoes!

Food Aversions?: None

Miss Anything From Before Being Pregnant?: To be honest nothing really this week.

Symptoms This Week?: Really really bad trapped wind cramps for two days! Nothing like the horrible pain of trapped wind, Thursday and Friday where awful, tried everything and nothing was helping. Probably to much information but I have never been so glad to fart and burp on Saturday when the big ball of wind I had started to break up! Had a very itchy belly all week had to go out and buy new products to help with it. Shortness of breath is getting worse and going to the wee all the time now! Snoring is still there and I am waking myself up with it! Also weird dreams are back and some of them are just crazy!!

Worst Moment Of the Week?: Thursday and Friday when I had a huge ball of trapped wind. I tried everything, drinking pints of water, eating popcorn, rubbing my back and belly, walking, sitting on my birthing ball, more walking, drinking soda water, baths, more walking and nothing worked. I just had to let it break up itself and thankfully on Saturday it did!

Best Moment Of the Week?: My Dad getting us our travel system set. It will all be delivered in two weeks! Thanks Dad x

Five Things 35/52

Hi everyone hope you are keeping safe from the crazy weather/storm we are having at the moment! Technically it's still the weekend here in Ireland its a Bank Holiday! We have a October/Halloween Bank Holiday that alot of other countries don't have this weekend! It's great and it's nice to have one last one before Christmas. Here is my five things from this weekend.

Getting out for lunch on Saturday this isn't normally a big deal but with being on bed rest again for the foreseeable future it was nice to get out and about on Saturday. I probably shouldn't have gone out but I needed some fresh air and my body was getting all achy and stiff so I needed a little walk too! Lunch was yummy!

This weekend in Dublin city center it was the Bram Stoker festival. There where lots of events going on, from many Dublin buildings turning red for the night, tours of Bram's childhood home, to a vampire hunt,  and various readings of Dracula. We where looking up what vampire movies where being shown on Merrion Square when Paul saw that they where playing his favourite childhood movie we had to go in to watch it. The festival went on all weekend and there are still events on today.

Relaxing Saturday night with of course a Dracula movie after a long day!

Loving this Cussons Mum & Me Sleep Mist. I didn't expect anything from it to be honest but I have been using it the past few nights and it really works! Got a few really good nights sleep with it waking up feeling really rested.

Lighting candles and getting all cosy while watching Downton Abbey while the wind howled outside on Sunday night!

So that my five things whats yours?

What's In Baby's Bag For Hospital!

I have packed my hospital bag and baby's hospital bag just encase I go early. My Mam went early on me and my brother, and my Mother-Inlaw went a little early on all her children, plus due to gestational diabetes there is a good chance that I can be brought in a little early to have baby. So I thought I better get prepared! All items in baby's hospital bag have been pre-washed as instructed.
So here is what is in Little Blip's hospital bag (I took the check list off the Coombe Hospital website):

* 1 Large Baby Hooded Towel
* 2 Cellular Blankets

* 1 Going home outfit with bib

* 5 Baby Vests

* 3 Long Sleeved Vests

* 4 Long Sleeved Sleepsuits/Babygrows

* 1 Heavy Long Sleeved Sleepsuit/Babygrow (not on Coombe list but added it anyway!)

* 3 Hats

* 2 pairs of mittens (not on Coombe list but added it anyway!)

* 6 bibs
* 2 burping clothes (not on Coombe list but added it anyway!)

* 1 Snowsuit (not on Coombe list but added it anyway!)

* 1 Pack of Newborn nappies

All ready to go!!

I have chopped and changed the list from the Coombe and added a few things I thought we might need. Like an extra sleepsuit, some more little hats, some mittens, and a snowsuit for when baby is coming home to keep little one warm.
So that's it we are all packed wonder how long more now!

What I Ate Thursday

So this is my second week on my gestational diabetes diet and I am slowly getting used to snacking between meals, taking my blood sugar levels and what foods I can and can't eat. Here is what I ate today:

 Breakfast - 9.30am
I managed to get a lie in this morning which was great so breakfast was a little later than normal. For breakfast I had a bowl of porridge made with water and a tiny splash of milk! I had some canderel sweetener on my porridge as I can't have sugar. I also had a large glass of milk with this and my prenatal and metformin tablets.

 Snack - 11.30am
I had a small bowl of strawberries for my mid morning snack today with a large glass of water.

 Lunch - 1.45pm
For lunch today Paul and I had cream of chicken soup with some granary bread and another tall glass of milk. I really enjoyed this lunch and will be making soup more often for lunch!

 Snack - 4.30pm
For my afternoon snack I just had a cheese string with a glass of water.

Dinner - 6.30pm
Paul made this lovely beef curry with basmati rice with cumin spices. I had two poppadoms with this, guilty as charged should of only had one but I was really hungry! I had another glass of milk with my dinner!

Snack - 9pm
My last snack of the day was a low fat strawberry yogurt with a half pint of water.

So that's my what I ate today! What is yours?
