Over The Weekend #15

As I am not well with this on-going twisted bowel
our weekends have been slow throughout January
I am hoping this will change in Feb when I see my surgeon
and get a date for my operation
The past weekends have been spent relaxing,
watching movies, and letting Daddy take over
while I rest and this weekend wasn't much different

I spent most of Friday evening
curled up on the sofa finishing this
amazing beautiful book
review will be in this months
what I read!

Saturday morning I felt well enough
for a little stroll in the park with
my two main men! They both got hair cuts
and by lunch time I was shattered and in pain
so curled up with a boxset, cuppa and candle!

Sunday morning I felt well enough to get
up early with Oisín and give hubby much needed
weekend lie in. He has been getting up early every
weekend with Oisín while I have been sick
so he really need a lie on! It was
so dull and grey Sunday morning that I
think I lit every candle in the house to
cheer myself up!

I was craving comfort food all day
Sunday so hubby done some yummy garlic and apple
bangers with onion and mushroom mash yum!

More comfort food melt in the middle chocolate pud
cream, and a small glass of wine
while we watched Call The Midwife
on Sunday night!

Over The Weekend #14

We didn't do much this weekend
Paul was working which always means its
a quite weekend

Friday evening was a cold one
Oisín was bathed, I showered put warm pyjamas on
lit candles and had a cheeky glass of wine
while Paul watched the football!

Saturday morning was bright and fresh here in Dublin
I was feeling well enough for a small walk
So Sheriff Woody, Oisín and I went out
for a stroll and some fresh air

Sunday wasn't a great day I was feeling
in a bit of pain from my twisted bowel
and Oisín has the sniffles
So we played inside, we drew pictures, sang songs,
played chiefs, painted, and watched Disney
and it was lovely!

After Sunday Lunch I cosed up on
the sofa, lit some Yankee Candles
caught up on Mr Selfridge with a small glass of red
and had an early night. I was asleep by 9.30pm!!

Five Top Tips for Feeling Good In Winter

Sometimes this time of the year can be a little depressing for some people. I can be one of those people especially when colds, germs and winter bugs creep in! I find when the clocks go back that it takes me a few weeks to get into the groove of Autumn/Winter, when the clocks went back a few weeks ago it threw me a bit. The dark mornings the early nights I wasn't ready for it! Then last weekend I went a little stir crazy with the windy rainy days and hubby in work so we where stuck inside. We got cosy and watched Disney so it was okay in the end! I keep to these tips when I feel a little down over the Winter time and I manage to cheer up!

Go Outside -
It might not be possible every day but I try to get out on a walk with Oisín every second day
even if it's just a walk to the shops! I do like getting to the park, it clears my head and blows the cobwebs away! We bundle up with hats, scarfs and gloves and head outside I aways feel better after a walk! If we can't get out we even try to play out our back garden for a while, Oisín just loves to be out and getting some fresh air is good for us all!

Treat Yourself -
For me this could be anything from some retail therapy to a glass of wine on a Sunday evening to an early night with a book. What ever way you like to treat yourself do it! I like to give myself extra treats in the Winter time. Even if it's just a bubble bath and a magazine I try to treat myself once a week to something I like!

Eat Well -
Since I started to detox in the Summer and then join Slimming World I have found that I am eating much better than before and I am feeling great for it. I will be doing another aloe vera detox again next week and I found that it helped build up my immune system along with good eating. Recently hubby and son got a cough and cold which lasted a few weeks, normally I would be the first one to get it and last one to have it. Since taking the aloe vera and eating on slimming world plan this time I got the cough for two days and it was gone! So putting the right things into your body does help and also I find getting proper sleep helps too

Put a Bit of Lippy On -
I always feel a bit better if I put a little effort in my hair and make up but even the days I feel like crap I put a bit of lippy on and it can make all the difference.

Light Some Candles -
Sometimes the hubby laughs at how much candles I have lighting everywhere
For me they can cheer me up on a grey morning and help me unwind in the evening
I light them when I'm in the bath, when I find a corner of the living room to read, when I'm having an early night or just getting cosy watching TV

That's my tips for feeling good in the days of dark mornings and early nights
what's yours?

Candle Haul!

Autumn is here and I start to light candles again!
With moving home and it being Summer
I haven't been lighting alot of candles but
now I have stocked up again
For me there is nothing better than to
draw the curtains and light a candle or two
while watching a good drama or movie
To run a hot bubble bath, put on some soft
music and light a few candles
Turn the lights down low and light a couple of
candles while eating dinner
Or even light a few twinkling candles
while eating breakfast on a misty grey morning!
So here are a few candles I stocked up on recently

The first two candles I got was
Yankee Candle Waikki Melon
I really like this scent
It's a really fruity scent
with a strong fragrance of melon and sweet orange
It reminded me of tropical holidays
and a cocktail I drank alot of
on my honeymoon to Mexico!
This candle throws scent really well
I will definitely be buying this again

The next medium size candle
was Cashel Living Vanilla
This candle threw scent very quickly
It was a creamy vanilla scent which
I love to burn in my living room
while relaxing
I really like this candle and will
buy this one again too!

The next candle was
Yankee Candle Sicilian Lemon
This one is a very fresh tart lemon
but I was disappointed at how the
scent threw, it disappeared quickly
After a few days of burning it
the scent was more or less gone
Not sure I will buy this one again

I also bought
Yankee Candle Vanilla Chai
This is my Autumn scent for this year!
It sums up Autumn for me
Its basically vanilla mixed with tea and
cinnamon spices

Last candle for my haul is
Yankee Candle Fireside Treats
I love this candle fast becoming one of my favourites
It a sweet smelling candling without becoming to sickly
I will buying this one again

So that rounds up my candle haul
What are your favourites?

Five Things 38/52

Happy Monday everyone hope your weekend was a good one. We had a nice one getting in the Christmas mood in November and now I want to put up our Christmas tree! Of course Hubby is saying no way...and maybe that's a good thing for now!! Here are my five things from the weekend:

Having my first festive Starbucks of Christmas this is our little Christmas tradition I love coffee anyway but there is something about getting a festive Starbucks coffee that starts Christmas off for me! I had a decaf gingerbread latte with a piece of lemon cake it was lovely! It was sneaky as cake is totally not on my gestational diet but it was a once off!

Lighting my Cherries on Snow candle and the whole living room being filled with a Christmas smell!

Remembering my wonder beautiful Nanny it was her 16th Anniversary this weekend.

Having family time with my Uncle and Goddaughter. Myself, Paul, Mam and Dad went over to my Uncle's to surprise my Goddaughter for her 13th birthday, her birthday is not till the 30th of November but the lucky duck will be in Paris on a student exchange so we had a little family night for it over the weekend. She is getting so grown up!!

My main craving of the weekend! Roast chicken with all the trimmings! It was so yummy and I really really enjoyed it!

That's my five things from the weekend what's yours?

Five Things 37/52

Happy Monday to all! Hope your weekend went well, we had a very full weekend! Here is my five things:

Going to the library and picking out books, then curling up the weekend nights with a Yankee Candle and a good book. This book The Girl You Left Behind is based at the time of the First World War and about a young woman trying to keep her family together in war time, quite appropriate for this weekend I thought.

Getting a great head start on Christmas shopping! On Friday we spent the morning buying and ticking things of our Christmas present list! We are only getting small presents for people this year as we are not sure when little blip will make an appearance and we want to be ready without too much hassle.

Our travel system was delivered this week, its a pram, buggy in one and came with a car seat too. Paul put it together straight away guess he was more excited than me about it! It's beautiful and I really love it I have been getting used to it all weekend! Thanks Dad for getting us these we love it x

Catching up on the first two episodes of this new Dracula series. I am really enjoying it and the new twist they have put on it. Jonathan Rhys Meyers plays the part really well, plus he is quite sexy which helps!

Went and had a pamper day this weekend, got my eyebrows, nails and hair done. As you can tell I got my hair chopped! It was bugging me the past number of weeks and I didn't have the energy to style it. So I decided to get a neat and tidy bob cut, which I like and is so much easier to manage with a huge bump!

That's my five things from this weekend. What's yours?

Five Things 36/52

Hi everyone hope your weekend was a nice one. Our was very quiet and relaxing we basically done  nothing this weekend only chill out and do some cleaning. We have a really busy week more hospital appointments, sorting out more of blip's things, and we have a whole day of antenatal classes, so it was nice to recharge our batteries before the craziness of this week! Here are my five things:

Lighting Yankee Candles all weekend our apartment smelt of lovely spices, vanilla's and fruits.

A few of my friends actually put up there Christmas tree and decorations this week, even for me who is a total Christmas nut this is a little too early for me! It did however get me in the mood to watch a holiday movie so we settled down and watched Planes Trains and Automobiles really love this movie.

Paul is doing Movember! Week one and he already has this red tash! He looks a little crazy in this picture because he was laughing then I was laughing and this was the best one I could get of him! He will be updating his Paulie's page weekly with a Movember update!

Late Sunday lunch!

Being a little naughty and eating chocolate pud and strawberries while watching Downton Abbey!

So that's my five things from the weekend, what's yours?
