Song of the Week

This week has been sponsored by the song

When The Doves Cry-Prince

After the sad and shocking news that another of my favourite artists passed away last week
I have been playing a lot of Prince's music this past week
He was a favourite of mine his music always makes me sing along and dance
I first heard this song in the Romeo and Juliet 1996 movie
Prince marks a time in my life from the age of 12 till 16 when I discovered all sorts of different music
Sarah Brightman, Kate Bush, Fleetwood Mac, Thin Lizzy, Maria Callas, Andrew Loyd Webber, Pink Floyd, Rolling Stones, Edith Piaf, Billie Holiday, Janis Joplin, Ray Charles, The Who, and
Stevie Nicks where all artists I discovered around this time. I have a very broad range in my taste in music. I love classical, blues, easy listening, rock n roll, oldies, opera, r n b and dance music
Prince never did the same song twice and I think that's why I loved him so much
His songs have been sung from Sinead O'Conner to Stevie Nicks and all in between
RIP Prince the doves are crying
Another legend added to the long list off music and screen lengends who have left us this year
The stars in the sky are shining bright this year

On The Box This Week

Warning-TV Spoilers Ahead!

I actually enjoyed this episode of the Arrow this week
not including the flashbacks of course which I think are no longer needed in the show
and bring nothing to the story or show
Brie Larson or The Bug Eyed Bandit as Cisco called her in The Flash was back and she wanted Felicity. Well it turned out she wanted the chip in Felicity's spine as Brie has a tumour that will leave her unable to walk. Brie threaten to kill the Board members of  Palmer Tech and set her bees on everyone if she can't get what she wants!
In other news Curtis discovers the Arrow's bunker, that Oliver is the Arrow,
and that Laurel and John are part of the team. He help take down Brie and the bees to help save Felicity but soon realises that it's not a game and decides to stay in Palmer Tech rather than the Arrow's bunker!

What a second episode of this second season! Wow they fitted alot of of the book
into one episode here! Dragonfly in Amber is a much more complicated book than Cross stitch
and it's alot longer. While I was glad the glossed over certain parts of the book I did think the scene where Claire meets Alex Randal lacked a little for me.
I loved the comic moments of this episode which we needed after seen the horrific nightmares Jamie is having after the torture and rape he suffered at the hands of Black Jack in series one. He might be healing physically but mentally he isn't.
So the comic relief was much needed. Moments like Jamie bumping into his former love, Murtagh proclaiming that France smells like assholes and armpits, to the foot kissing French Minister of Finance and of course my favourite waxed honey pot scene!
As a reader of the book the scene with Master Raymond stood out for me. It was everything how I imaged. him, the shop, the vest, the Madonna, and the ladders I love it.
One thing I really love with this show is so far the casting of each character has been amazing. Each character is how the book describes them and the actors fit into the characters so well.
The production is another thing I love with this show. I loved the grandeur of the French court everything looked so beautiful. But you could feel in a sense that each of our characters felt like an Outlander and are missing home.
At the end of the episode Claire finds out that Black Jack is not as dead as she and Jamie thought!

Finally finally the best show on TV is back!
I love that I get to review two of my favourites Outlander and Thrones!
Season six started with fan favourite Jon Snow lying in a pool of his own blood
after the betrayal of his men The Night's Watch. Davos hears Jon's direwolf Ghost howling
and finds Jon. A handful of loyal men to Jon and Davos carry his body to Davos room they know it's only a matter of time before Thorne will come for them. Davos sends one of the loyal men to find the Wildlings to help to avenge Jon's death. He also sends for Melisandre The Red Woman who might be to help Jon with her magic
In Kings Landing Cersei is mourning the death of yet another of her children as Jamie comes home with the body of Myrcella there daughter. Tommen still seems to be under Cersei's control as his wife and Queen Margaery is still locked up by the High Sparrow.
In Dorne the sand snakes killed the whole royal family what happens next in Dorne is any ones guess?
Daenerys met a new Khal, Khal Jhaqo he didn't seem very impressed as she listed out her many titles including Mother of Dragons. He called he Queen of Nothing, with her dragons no where to be seen, he unsullied many miles away and her two main men looking for her. It seemed at that moment in time titles where just words and she was Queen of nothing. Jhaqo did seem more interested when she told him she was the dead Khal Drogo wife, he told her there is only one place for widowed wives and that's Vaes Dothrak where he will bring her.
Hooray for Brienne saving the day for Sansa and Theon who some how survived the jump
from Winterfell but had Bolton men on there tracks. She and Pod save them from being dragged back to sadist Ramsay. They make the decision to head north where they know Jon Snow is
Lord Commander of the Night's Watch.
But we know Jon is laying dead on a table in Castle Black which leads us to the last scene
the beautiful Melisandre is unsure of her magic and herself. She saw Jon fighting at Winterfell in her vision. Is the Lord of Light wrong? She takes of her gown (she loves being naked this one) and looks at her reflection in the mirror. My shock as the reflection changes when she takes off her necklace of red stone we see her truth form a very old crone. She slowly backs away from the mirror and crawls into her bed.
I have so many questions like how old actually is she? Does her power come from her red stone necklace? Has she been tricking us all and that the sacrifices she was making wasn't for the Lord of Light but to keep her young and beautiful? Will she give the necklace to Jon to revive him?
Guess we might get some answers when she wakes from her beauty sleep!!

Over The Weekend #27

I only have two pictures for this
weekend and they sum up how it has been for us!
Friday night the bottle of fizz was chilling in the fridge
it's still there now and will be until next week!
Oisìn came down with an awful chest and throat infection
he still has a cough that sounds like a bark
Hubby was working late so I finally got a doctor's appointment
but Oisìn was cranky and over tired by this stage!
He is on antibiotics, steroids and a cough bottle poor mite
He finally fell asleep after 24 hours at 6pm Friday night
Break out the bubbly not!

This was how I spent my Friday night!
After spending all day pushing the fact that I didn't feel well to one side
to look after my poorly baby boy
When he was finally asleep I couldn't lift my head off the sofa!
Dragged my sick arse to bed with hot lemon, paracetamol and a book!

That's how the past two days have looked
Paul has been great nurse to me and Oisìn not sure what I would do without him!
He never complains and has spent the pass two days making sure Oisìn and I had everything we need
Topping us up with cough bottle, watching cartoons with Oisìn and even fluffing my pillows!

Saturday night Paul bought me ice cream
purely medical of course!
We lay on the sofa and enjoyed one of my favourite shows Outlander

I spent today in bed I now have a horrible cough
can't sleep so have been reading and watching netflix
Oisìn is thankfully feeling much better although not fully back to himself
I am hoping to be in better form tomorrow after some lemsip and cough bottle
An early night for me off to dream of this handsome Scot!

This Month I Have Been Mostly Reading - April

Thankfully April has been a slower paced month than March
but my illness took a turn for the worse
so I had lots of hospital appointments and I read lots!

The Lake House-Kate Morton
While I love Morton this wasn't my favourite of her novels. I love her style of writing, the way she can change her writing to different era's in time and start the reader guessing from the very first page! Set in the 1930's when a small child goes missing, from a rambling country estate on a midsummer night party and not one person of the hundred guests at the party notices anything. It's a case that goes unsolved for years until now when a shamed DC is taking some down time in Cornwall this cold case strikes something in Sadie and she will not stop till she solves it.
Morton is still the Queen of secrets and there are lots of them in this novel! She also is excellent at changing from past to present she does it so effortlessly, but I think she tried a little too hard with The Lake House. It felt a little too crammed, maybe 100 pages too long, and a little too many characters. It took me about the 200 page mark to finally start to warm to the characters and get into the story. After that I found it hard to put down, maybe a few too many theories but I did enjoy thinking I had the plot twists figured out only for Morton to throw a curve ball and for the reader to be back at square one again!! In a lesser book any one of these theories would of been the conclusion and I would of guessed it from then start, but not Morton and it's one of the things I love about her novels.
That said I did feel that there might have been one to many mysteries and Sadie's back ground police case was misplaced or not developed as much as it could of been.
When I did get to the bottom of the missing child conclusion I did enjoy it but the ending was a little too happy ever after for me. While I enjoyed The Lake House it wouldn't been for first choice when reading a Kate Morton book

The Biography Kate Bush-Rob Jovanovic
I bought this book around ten years ago and read it cover to cover in one sitting!
I found it in my parents on Easter Sunday and thought to give it a re-read!
I don't read allot of biography's only of people/artist I admire, Elizabeth Taylor, Michael Crawford, Fleetwood Mac, Audrey Hepburn, being a few I have read but I adore Kate Bush. So my 20 year old self rushed out and bought this even though as a big fan I knew allot about Ms Bush already.
This book isn't a riveting read but it does give us an insight of young Kate's life before
she got her record deal. You can tell that Jovanovic is a fan of Kate's work that comes across in the writing. I like the interviews with different musicians and artists that worked with Kate. I also really liked the quotes at the start of each chapter. But there is nothing new here not even the pictures which all Kate Bush fans has seen before. I am trying to get my hands on a copy of the book Waiting On Kate Bush which I am looking forward to reading.

The Red Lily Crown-Elizabeth Loupas
I devoured this book and read it in two days I couldn't put it down. It is a very well written historical fiction novel. It is set in 16th century Florence at the very powerful royal Medici court where family don't trust each other, lies, whispers and greed reigns over the court.
Francesco has become the next Grand Duke but he is very unsuited to the role, he loves women and alchemy he pursues both with a fiery passion. He is cruel, sadist, selfish and needs a male heir soon!
He takes in Chiara as his alchemy assistant when she agrees to sale him some of her late Father's alchemy equipment. She must take a series of tests to confirm she is still a virgin as he believes that will help compete their alchemy work. She also must take a vow to remain a virgin while she at his court and working for him. While at court she meets the mysterious Englishman Ruan and the three work on various alchemy experiments together.
While I enjoy historical fiction I sometimes get bored of the political facts of the story lines
not in this book the political and alchemy story lines where very interesting. No one is safe in the Medici court not even the Duke himself! Loupas is great at explaining how powerful the Medici family are and are not to be messed with!
I liked each of the characters the horrible sadist Franco was a character I loved to hate and is poor wife who really did seem to love him! Chiara was a little hard to like she was well rounded but sometimes a little to selfish, or single minded. My favourite character was Ruan with his dark secrets and his own reason for hating the Grand Duke although he hides it well!
I really enjoyed this book and cant wait to read some more of Loupas books!

A Weekend With Mr Darcy-Victoria Connelly
I wanted a light book to read in between doctors appointments and knew I had found it when I picked this up in a local charity shop!
I had the plot sewn up on page 27 but I enjoyed this book for the light relaxing read it is!
What made me pick this book up was the reference to Jane Austen and of course Mr Darcy
It did get slightly annoying all the referencing to Austen sometime less is more!
The plot is predictable, there are no plot twists or turns but that's what I needed
when my head was spinning from another day spent at doctor surgery's
It's not going to set the world on fire with it's two romances but who wouldn't love
to find there Mr Right at a weekend convention about Austen novels!
It's a nice read but maybe one I will not remember reading next month!

Nefertiti-Michelle Moran
I found this book hard to get into, right from the first pages Nefertiti is not a very likable character.
This should really be called Nefertiti's Sister as it's all her point of view. It's about how she feels being the younger sister of the great Queen Nefertiti. How she has had enough of being her sister's spy, maid, healer and she decides to take her chance at love and a quiet live instead.
Nefertiti and her husband Amunhotep are like the Anne Boleyn and Henry Tutor of there time. They change the religion of there people, ban the old Gods and raise huge temples to there new sun God. But unlike the latter we never found out why. What caused these drastic change in religion was it only because the Amun priests had so much gold in there temples? What made them to up and move there court to a new palace in the dessert?
The reader never once gets these questions answered as Moran never gives Nefertiti a voice. We never get inside the mind of the strong powerful Queen who co ruled with her King. Instead she sees Nefertiti as a spoiled, cruel, jealous little girl, who cares more about who her husband is sleeping with rather than the ruling of her country.
There was no descriptions of how beautiful Egypt was at this time. I don't like pages of description but I do like to know what I am meant to be imaging! The beautiful palace in the desert deserved more than a few lines. I find all ancient Egypt fascinating but this novel really lacked for me and as I have read Moran's novels before I was disappointed with Nefertiti.

The Secrets Of Midwives-Sally Hepworth
I really enjoyed this book funny that I was reading about a family of midwives and babies
while I was going to doctor and hospital appointments about my on going fertility struggles!
It's about three generations of midwives Floss the English Grandmother, Grace the hippy American Mother and Neva the brilliant pregnant daughter
I found this book easy to read. The chapters done in each woman's point of view where short
and engrossing to the point where I kept thinking just one more chapter till before I knew it I was at the end of the book!
Neva is pregnant and will not tell who the father of her child is she wants to go it alone, but her Mother Grace is less than happy about this. Her Grandmother Floss is quite about the subject but that is because she knows a long kept secret of her own is about to come to the surface!
At the heart of this book is about family, and new life coming into the world
We learn that family not just something you are born into, sometimes it is chosen.

What Oisìn has been reading this month
Thomas The Tank Engine
Oisìn has become more and more interested in Thomas & Friends
He plays with his Thomas Trains and now really likes watching Thomas on TV He now points out trains on the TV and when he has play dates with his friends he asks for choo choo trains!
When we where at the library a couple of weeks ago he found a whole section of Thomas books
Which we took some home and it has been all he has wanted to read lately!
He has even started asking to bring one of the books down stairs in the morning
he carries it around and even wanted to bring it to daycare!
I will have to buy him a Thomas book of his own as he will not be happy when these books
have to go back to the library!

What have you been reading this month?

Song Of The Week

This week has been sponsored by the song....

Three Little Birds-Bob Marley

Not sure how or why but Oisìn has started to pick up some of the words to this song
and I have caught him singing it to himself a few times this week!
Monday playing in the back garden he was playing in his little play house while I was weeding the garden and I heard him sing "three little birdies on my door step, everything thing going be okay"
I was shocked as the only other songs I have heard him sing is nursery rhymes!
Even with our song Catch A Falling Star he has never sung it he just asks me to sing the Pocket song
Then on Wednesday night he was in bed and before he fell asleep I heard him on the monitor (yes I still use a monitor at night!) I heard him sing "Don't worry about a thing, everything be alright"
he say the same few lines over and over for about ten minutes
Not sure if it is because I have been playing the song more than often due to this being the year
of my brother's 30th birthday and it's also the 10th anniversary of his death this year
and this song reminds me of him
Or maybe it's just because its a sweet simple song that's easy to learn
whatever the reason it's a nice song to hear my son sing in his little voice

The Honeycomb Cafe - Review

Last Friday Paul and I went out for breakfast before an afternoon of doctor appointments for me!
All my friends have told me great things about the Honeycomb Cafe in Clondalkin and I was waiting for a chance to go there myself! When I got there from the outside I wasn't sure if it was going to be just another greasy spoon. I pleasantly surprised when we entered the cafe, it was just my cup of tea! I loved all the country style mismatch decor
I loved the old fashioned bits and pieces, an old radio, candles and I fell in love with the antique writing table! The minute we walked in I felt relaxed and it felt so cosy. The staff are very friendly, we where the first customers of the day but the place began to fill up quickly. So I was glad I took my photos before the place got too busy!

I ordered the pancakes, bacon and eggs option with a large cappuccino
The pancakes where the fuffyest pancakes I have ever eaten and I have had pancakes in America but they didn't come close to these!
Hubby had the Honeycomb big breakfast compete with homemade relish and fried onions
with toast and a huge pot of tea for one! Hubby enjoys his tea so was happy with his big mug as his pet hate is tiny tea cups!

I loved the mismatch feel with the plates, tea cups and tea/coffee pots
There is actually a tiny selection of things to buy and I have my eye on a coffee pot and milk bottle for next time we go I will be buying! The staff are very friendly and happy to recommend from the menu, service with a smile!
This is a beautiful hidden gem and a place you don't want to rush out of, I really wanted to stay have another coffee and try the amazing range of cakes on offer but time was against us as I had doctors appointments. I had to make do with a take away latte!
We enjoyed our breakfast we will be going back this weekend to enjoy another yummy breakfast from there amazing menu.
I will definitely be bringing my friends here too. My pregnant friend and I where looking for somewhere for lunch and I can see this cafe becoming a regular spot for us as its also a very family friendly place  She will enjoy some TLC and guilt free cake!

On The Box This Week

Warning-TV Spoilers Ahead!

I am  hoping that something picks up soon with this season of Arrow
it is really lacking IMO this season. The Oliver/Felicity story line is being dragged
out and now Felicity has a miracle cure so she can walk again. She has found out about Oliver's secret son and called off there engagement. Either let these two have there happy ending or move on from this couple. I know of course the writers will drag this story line out just like the annoying flashbacks!
Cupid is back in Star City and killing couples who are about to get married. The team have to work quickly, staging a secret wedding for Oliver and Felicity to trick her. Laurel is in court working on getting Damien Darhk into prison. Her father decides to give evidence against Darhk although he knows his police career will be over if he does so and Felicity decides to leave the group for good.

What a beautiful first episode of season two!
It was stunning right down to the touch of the title song being sung in French!
I have read the books so know the plot twists but it was good to see the look on hubby's face because he didn't! Major spoilers here so you have been warned!
At the start of the episode we knew something bad has happened as Claire screams and cries
She is back in the 1940's but we don't know why, she meets her husband Frank in hospital
Poor Frank he has lost his wife for two years and now she is back in 18th century clothes, talking about a new Scottish husband, how all she sees is Black Jack when she looks at him and she's pregnant!
Yes pregnant with a dead man's baby! A lot to take in the first 30 minutes of the show!
This is done slightly different than the books but the shock is still there for the viewer. I loved how differently from the books we get to see Frank's reaction at having Claire home and pregnant. I really enjoyed the interaction between Frank and Reverend Wakefield and Claire and Mrs Graham
The acting was outstanding Caitriona Balfe and Tobias Menzies deserve Emmy nominations for this episode alone!
Franks decides to take Clare back who he loves more than life, he believes her story about time travelling he doesn't know how or why but he believes her and will raise the child as his own.
But she has to agree to no more research on the Jacobite war and how Jamie died. She knows she has to let the pass go and agrees to go to Boston with Frank where he has been offered a job.
As she steps of the plane in American she has flash backs to 18th century France
and arriving in France with Jamie to set about stopping the Jacobite war.
I can't wait for the next episode!

Over The Weekend #26

We had no plans this weekend at all so we just relaxed for most of it!
We started our weekend off on Friday when we went out for the most amazing breakfast
at the Honeycomb Cafe in Clondalkin

I went for the pancakes, bacon and eggs with a large coffee
Paul went for the full breakfast with pot of tea
It was a lovely treat and one we don't do very often must make it more than a once off treat!
I had hospital and doctors appointments after about my pcos, endometriosis and twisted bowel
more chats about different meds etc but still feel like I'm getting no where!

Saturday morning I spent Spring cleaning and doing the jobs that didn't get done
on Friday washing, ironing, polishing etc
Then with Nanny and Granddad we went to the local park
Before the park wearing Granddad's cap!

We had the whole park to ourselves it was bitter cold
we were wrapped up like it was January not April!
After dinner and hot chocolates Oisín was bathed, read too and put to bed
Paul and I sat down to finally catch up with Outlander
I love this show I have read the first two books of the series so I know what's going to happen
but it was fun seeing Paul's face at the plot twist!

Sunday mornings are always slow in our house!
I drank strong coffee and read! Oisín drank milk and played with his Lego!
When hubby woke from his lie in we had lovely brunch
Our back garden is in desperate need of a Spring clean
while Paul and I tried to clean it up on Sunday afternoon
Oisín put his wellies and hat on to help us
His help was mostly playing on his swings and in his playhouse!

The rest of Sunday was mostly relaxing, reading, watching Toy Story
and eating a late Sunday roast!

My Top Ten Furey Brothers Songs

My Father In Law is back in the UK for the next couple of weeks for another leg of this years tour
Oisín found it hard this time saying goodbye to him and wanted to go with him!
As he gets older he understands that Granddad has to go to work for long periods of time
I can only imagine what it must of been like for my Mother In Law, husband and his siblings when they where younger to say good bye knowing they would see there husband or father for a number of weeks. Yet I know they love what there father does and are so proud of him and the band, and I know Eddie Furey loves what he does singing songs of his youth, old songs, new songs, songs and words that bring people so much happiness.
So I thought I would share my own personal favourite songs from The Furey Brothers!

10. The First Leaves Of Autumn

9. Oro Oro

8. Her Father Didn't Like Me Anyway

7. Clare To Here

6. Leezie Lindsay

5. Gallipoli

4. Absent Friends

3. The Red Rose Cafe

2. Sweet Sixteen

1. Steal Away

On The Box This Week

Warning-TV Spoilers Ahead!

I love settling down on a Friday night and watching Gogglebox
it always makes me smile. Some of the best belly laughs I have are from this show
This week the TV mad family's reviewed dogs might fly, Marcella, but things got awkward
and very funny when they watched the crazy TV show called sex box!!

I enjoyed this episode we find out that Adam (Ralph's illegitimate Indian son) is staying with him and Ralph is trying to get him cleared of attacking Lord Hawthorne. Ralph was trying his best but it was Cynthia who took things in hand literally to persuade Hawthorne to forget he seen the boy. The Gobble Gobble was an amazing yet slightly disturbing scene. It showed us yet again how amazing Julie Waters is. There was also the story line of Ralph's parentage and it turns out that Cynthia's dead Reggie is actually Ralph's Dad. Which Ralph didn't seem to happy to find out smacking Cynthia half way across the room when she told him! I didn't expect this revelation at all I always thought she was his secret Mother or Aunt! So why did she take Ralph under her wing when Reggie betrayed her? What did she feel she owed him? Why is she living through Ralph and why will she do literally anything for him? The plot thickens!
The domestic violence plot between Alice and her nutcase husband Charlie was painfully to watch this week. As he cut his son's hair awful just to hurt Alice, when she then smashed a plate over his head he then took her upstairs and took a belt to her. Wonderful acting all round the scene at the club later was more fantastic acting. Charlie needs to come to a sticky end maybe soon?
This episode made me excited for the next episode a first for this second series!

A storm sees all the gang head to Jay's just when he is heading out for drinks
with his navy buddies. We find out that Haley and Andy are a couple now which I found strange as I only remember at Christmas these two getting caught having an affair but barely a mention since. I like these two together but I hope the writers develop there story line a bit and not forget about them again for so many episodes!
Cam and Mitchell are hosting a girls birthday party and have to bring the party's to Jay's.
There was a lovely moment between Jay and Phil, when Jay reveals why he wants to leave for drinks with his buddies. His navy friend has passed away and when that happens the buddies always go to an Irish bar and have a silent toast. It's a nice moment when Phil pours him a drink and they sit in silence watching the raining.

Tried to watch this episode twice last night. I was so excited by the return of one of my favourite
shows Outlander, but my little boy had a restless night due to teething so I never got to watch it
Will be watching it tonight and doing a review for it next week!

Over The Weekend #25

We had a really nice weekend
my chronic pain wasn't too bad
and we had a nice couple of family days

On Saturday morning we where up early
went out for breakfast and then went to the library
Oisín got a very funny book called
My Daddy Thinks He Is Funny!
We then went to our neighbours son's birthday party
The theme was super hero's so Oisín wore his batman sweater!

The Super hero birthday cake every young boy's dream cake!

Our very own Batman! He had such a fun time but he does need to work on his sharing
as he can get very possessive over toys!

Sunday started off slow we had a lie in till 8am
drank coffee, watched Disney and read books
Then at 11am my Mam came to ours and we had a huge fry up
We then got the bus into Dublin city centre and went to Stephen's Green Park
To feed the ducks!

Only there wasn't much ducks only sea gulls
But Oisín didn't seem to mine he enjoyed feeding the birds
and chasing the pigeons!

Billy no mates! Oisín was too busy chasing pigeons to get a picture with me!

Finally got Oisín in a picture with Mammy and Nanny!

We then went to the National Nature Museum
Which we really enjoyed Oisín was a little frightened of some of the things
but he loved the monkeys, and birds!

Then found a little pub for some Sunday lunch
and Oisín was delighted when he saw his Granddad in a picture on the wall

On The Box This Week

Warning-TV Spoilers Ahead!

I'm not sure why but I haven't been feeling the past three episodes of this show
to be honest it just feels like more of the same of last season.
The things that made it fresh and new last season feels a little stale
Julie Waters has been my reason for continuing to watch she is amazing as Cynthia
This episode seemed to pick up a little so hopefully we might get something exciting soon!
What I do like about this show is how it's a bit of a jigsaw and how as the viewer
we have to put the pieces together!
There was a fashion show which looked stunning but all went a bit wrong when Lord Hawthrone was turned into a human torch! Which left us all guessing what happened? Then Ralph's illegitimate son Adam turned up with torched hands we see if he has an evil touch like his Dad or was he saving Leena for being rape?

So we come to the 90 minute finale of season six of The Walking Dead
This seems to have fans up in arms regarding the end of season cliffhanger
TBH I don't really mind the cliffhanger but I do think it might have been a step to far
for some fans and one to many cliffhangers in what seem to be a series of cliffhanger endings
I think that this episode didn't need to be 90 minutes the regular time would of been better
Maggie is in a bad way so the gang try to get her to hilltop to see a doctor before she starts to lose her baby but Negan's gang is waiting and block the roads at ever turn. The Morgan and Carol storyline went on to long for me it was too drawn out but I was glad for glimpses of a new community in season seven.
But if the writers can barely fit in Alexandrians, never mind Hilltop residents into 16 episodes what hope have this new community of getting screen time?!
It was mostly 90 minutes of Rick's group in the RV driving around but there was some chilling scenes like when they decide to leave the RV and try get to hilltop on foot and as they run into the woods they hear Negan's group whistling from everywhere.
The saving grace was of course Jeffery Dean Morgan as Negan he delivers a ten minute monologue and it's so gripping I just loved it. We met Lucille his weapon of choice and we wait to see who is going to met a very sticky end, and we waiting and then we hear but don't see who gets killed!
Personally while I'm not too annoyed by the cliffhanger I can understand why some fans are
If the writers or show runner hadn't done the same at the start of the season with Glen, and after endless cliffhanger episodes all season, it might have worked but it comes across to some fans as a cheap trick that has been done to death the past two seasons! Some one please tell the writers that ending every episode in a cliffhanger doesn't make it good writing or good TV!! It's getting a little boring and stale! Maybe it's time to get some new writers or show runner to freshen the show up a bit. I will still be watching next season but that only because Jeffery Dean Morgan gave us a glance of how awesome he is going to be as Negan.

So as one of my favourite shows finishes for a while another restarts
Outlander is back next week!!

Over The Weekend #24

This weekend Paul was working so it was just Oisín and I
we had a couple of days of mother and son time!

Saturday morning this little one enjoyed his blueberry porridge!

Maybe it was because my chronic pain was bad this weekend
or it's a phase Oisín is going through but this weekend he was very clingy
Couldn't leave his side for a moment and he was following me, calling for me
asking me to join in with his games or helping him drawn and paint
While I love that he wants me to play with him but with twisted bowel so bad
and I had major fatigue this weekend I just needed him to play by himself
for half an hour or so. So I remember some toys Oisín got for Christmas
which I had put up because he got some many
He enjoyed playing with them for all of ten minutes!

So we went out to the park
We brought bread to feed the ducks
and it was fine weather for the ducks!
Damp and drizzle rain so we didn't stay for very long!

When we got home I made Oisín a hot chocolate and put on his favourite movie Toy Story 3
So while he was happy and quiet I made a cuppa and enjoyed reading my book!

Sunday was mostly a write off!! I was in bad pain and found it an effort to get dressed
Thankfully Paul was only in work for a short day so when he got home
I went back to bed with a hot water bottle, pain killers and a book!
