From now until Christmas day Paul and I have a little tradition to watch a Christmas movie or TV Christmas special. The movies and TV episodes are in no special order but I do tend to keep my favourites to a little near to Christmas. So today after putting up the last of the Christmas decorations we will settle down with a hot chocolate to watch the first of our 25 days of Christmas movies and TV specials.
Day 1
Day 1
Planes, Trains, and Automobiles
My first movie on my list is not technical a Christmas movie its set at Thanksgiving. The film stars Steve Martin as Neal Page a busy office executive trying to get home to his family for the holidays. Along the way he meets clumsy but good hearted Del Griffith played brilliant by John Candy. For the moment Neal leaves his office things go from bad to worse and back again! Neal and Del share one hell of a road trip back to Chicago!
The wonderfully funny scene in the motel when they wake up cuddling and are both horrified! "That's not two pillows!" The movie has alot of scenes that remind me of the movie The Odd Couple and it is quite like The Odd Couple on a road trip at times! Another favourite scene of mine is when Neal (Steve Martin) has enough of his bad luck and takes it out on a sales agent " I want a f**king car right f**king now". It is a John Hughes film at its best and of course has a lovely heart warming end. Enjoy!
